Then Xavi Simons makes one of the brainless sequences of decisions I've ever seen - loses the ball poorly, something he'd been doing consistently until then, and then loses his head and rakes his studs down Van Dijk's calf.

We still looked potent, until going 1 and then 2 down. And then the attempted rally was great, until Romero put an end to it by predictably getting sent off himself for something macaronic.

Consistently brainless decisions doomed us today, on the pitch. And it's the story of both the season, and the last five-six seasons, really - we lack players with brains, who can control their emotions and make the right decisions at the right time.

It's been this way since we lost (in turn) Eriksen and then Kane, both of whom could think through situations and make the right decisions, on and off the ball. With them gone, the team makes the wrong decisions nearly every time, playing on instinct, and reacting to the game state rather than controlling it.

Brainless decisions, playing to the crowd and the moment, panicking too easily, getting enraged too easily, and so on. Heading the ball to an opponent when you have time to bring it down and control it. Kicking it out wildly out of play instead of playing through pressure. Getting caught out of position again, and again, and again. Showing up in the news doing stupid things off the field. And so on.

Frank can't fix this by himself. No one can - it takes time, money, and patience, to ship out brainless players and bring thinking ones in. And not bring in any more in the meantime - which we sadly might have failed at, if Xavi's idiocy is any indication.

I agree with a lot of that mate except for Xavi. He's 22 and trying to make an impression on the league. He's made a mistake so now I hope he will learn. Romero on the hand ...

Kudus doesn't have the ability to run at players? He played a great ball to Bergvall in the second half, there were a few breaks with easier passes on for him but instead he went backwards. That's coming from Frank. He should be getting instructions to go forward when we are breaking. It's nothing to do with ability.
 
I can't believe how corrupt those decisions were tonight. Every 50:50 went against us. Every 60:40 too.

So I googled John Edmund Cornwall Brooks to try to understand what his problem is and why he is like that.
Says he was born in 1990 and his dad died in 1990 so I should cut him some slack, he's clearly been dealt a very tough hand.

Wiki says he is a descendent of King Edward III and also Richard of Cornwall.

Disagree. His first instinct is to keep the ball and run with it. It's not to play a through ball type pass. That is more Xavi. And why he's more a winger than a number 10.

Doesn't lose his head? Behave mate, he might get away with it more, but the blokes an absolute monster of a player, massively crude in the tackle, to suggest otherwise is a lie.

Romero has won a WC and 2 Copa and the EC with us.

He ain't perfect but you don't make it through those campaigns and win things without being good.

Yes, his instinct is to run with it, but he didn't do that. With space in front of him he turned back, he didn't run with it, he didn't take the option to pass it, he turned back and played a backwards pass. Completely agains his first instinct. I don't believe that is coming from the player and it's him being instructed to not risk losing the ball.

Romero did not win those things on his own..and it doesn't matter what Guimaraes does or how dirty he is. He doesn't get sent off or make as many brain less decisions.

I never said he did but he was a key player in those sides, it not just luck

Hahahaha are you serious about Guimaraes, I saw him literally punch Jorginho against Chelsea and miraculously avoid a Red Card, he is filthy and I would still have him here.

As I would a whole host of players who want to win and have an edge

There were a couple of times when a quick release pass would have put us in but he didn't take that option. Contrast that with Bergvall for example who looks to moves the ball much faster. They are both coached by the same guy, but I think they think differently about how to attack.

We'll have to agree to disagree mate. I would have Guimaraes in my team ahead of Romero. I wonder whether Romero would have been better as a defensive midfielder personally.

Thats cool, its not going to change whats what here.

I have seen genuine leg breakers from BG, sure there were a couple versus us, he is no saint, maybe luckier
