Interesting take on the manager search from Jack Pitt-Brooke on today’s View From the Lane podcast.

He believes that Poch is Levy’s ‘break glass in case of emergency’ appointment; he is happy to have him in the background in case things go really horribly wrong with Stellini over the next few weeks. If they do, he knows appointing Poch would immediately appease a lot of fan anger.

The obvious dangers, according to Pitt-Brooke, are that Levy spends too long weighing up other options and Poch goes elsewhere; or Poch becomes increasingly aware he’s not near the top of Levy’s preferred list and decides it’s not for him.

At which point it could get very difficult for Levy if we go on a bad run of results until the end of the season.

Could be complete gonad*s, of course.

The fact that it would mean Levy actually has a kind of plan makes me immediately suspicious…:D
"He Believes" = He hasn't a fudging clue and is guessing like the rest of us

If that were true, I just don't see what Plan A could be. There are literally no other candidates within a million miles of him. Is Levy waiting for Brenton to weigh up West Ham's counter offer or something?

Did anyone see the pre match intervju from Stallini? Ive been with Antonio for years, and now I have to do it all alone… what do Mason think of that? Is he just a maskot?

Come on, just get a manager in now, if the answer was to do this we could have had Conte play Conte football and not stallini playing Conte football..

I like the diversity of his coaching staff

Yip, quite probably - although with more inside knowledge than most of us will ever be privy too…and that doesn’t stop the endless speculation that we all enjoy on here.

To be fair to him, he was very clear in saying they were just his thoughts.

Assuming Paratici doesn't win his appeal and can no longer do his job.

Do we get a DoF in first, or manager?

Depends. If it's an established manager like Poch, then let him choose and let the DoF be largely reactive/subservient to him.

If it's an up-and-comer like De Zerbi or Slot, then probably best to get an experienced figure who will create their own independent power base.

DOF first, else you get someone like Poch then have to reset again if/when it fails. The DoF is supposed to be the constant so we are not constantly refreshing.

besides if as gutter suggests Poch is some super coach who automatically improves all players then shouldn’t matter who the DoF is and who they bring in, right? (Ok maybe a little tongue in cheek comment)

How will the club send out season ticket renewal emails when the club is a joke right now and ticket prices will more than likely be going up in price? If Pochettino were to be appointed that would make it a lot easier decision to renew for most. As it stands we will likely finish 6th or 7th with poor football being played and losing to any half decent team we play that isn’t already on the beach.

Probably by email.

I think if we lose to Brighton on Saturday (depending on the performance maybe) then the pressure will ramp up to make a permanent appointment asap rather than drifting on for the rest of the season.
