Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Have to agree with this, the truth is Giroud strength is in the air ( taking off the hate anything about the Arse glasses) he may be nothing on the ground but he ( along) with Benteke are probably the best in the Prem when the ball is played in the air to the right places.

We will not be the first team that allow him the amount of headers he won and I think its silly to think about changing our CB's because of this.
Unfortunately I think you may have missed out the player who might be the best of all in the air in the PL.... Andy Carroll.

It looks as though he will be for our match in 11 days time (him picking up an injury in training between now and then not withstanding)

To be honest I think Giroud is better he scores more goals anyway, Carroll is another English player who was overhyped and if he was from elsewhere they would not be the same hype about him.

Giroud might be a better player but I am not sure that he is better in the air (which i think was what was being talked about?). Carroll would've absolutely thrived on the crosses that were coming in against us on Sunday. Hopefully we'll do a better job of stopping those coming in against West Ham. Their crosses possibly also won't have the same quality as Arsenal's did with Ozil swinging them in.

if he is fit today, there is no way on earth he won't fall off a barstool drunk in the next 11 days, he won't play in that game

Beg to differ...this is their cup final remember and they'll remind him he'll have all he barstools in the World afterwards if he can 'do to us what he did vs Chelski'.

He'll be chomping at the bit - esp with their current injuries..

Well I guess we will see ( IF he is fit and plays), what I will say though is fat sam bought players like Downing and Jarvis ( who can cross balls) to provide for Carroll but he still could not score many headers.

I think he found it difficult to do so from his place in the treatment room.

Will Carroll get the quality of ball that giroud got? That was the problem on Sunday, it wasn't just hoofs into the box, they were ariel passes for giroud. The problem wasn't the defending in the box, but outside its stopping the ball coming in.

I thought we responded well against Villa to Gestede coming on. Really tried to limit their crossing opportunities into the box. And the cross that did become dangerous was only really dangerous because Lloris left his line. No more than a 5% chance of Gestede scoring from that one if Lloris stays on his line imo.

Against Arsenal quite a few of their chances were from set pieces. Then a mix up on the left when Son came on for Lamela as Son made the wrong choice in tracking Debuchy instead of handing him over to Rose and pressing Ozil instead (again imo). But despite their pressure we seemed to work hard to limit their chances to put good crosses into the box.

Some credit has to go Paul Mitchell and his black box

Most definitely. Our signings this season have looked very good, and more importantly they've seemed like good fits for our system and they've brought us some missing ingredients like stability at the back in Alderweireld and pace in the "front 4" with Son and Clinton.

Makes me positive about the January window that if we do make a move it's more likely to be a good fit for our team than it has been in the past.

Not sure how much impact he had on the Dele Alli signing. Though interestingly Mitchell was at MK Dons until Januar 2012 according to wikipedia and would probably have had a good insight into Dele Alli that very few others would have had so could easily imagine that he at the very least had his say on the lad.

Alli is one you can definitely pin on Mitchell because of the MKD connection.

Son however said that Baldini had been talking to him since 2013.

Rob Mackenzie seems to tweet a lot about Njie, so perhaps that's one he personally feels quite invested in?

Mackenzie specialises in the Fench based players and was responsible for Marhez to Leicester scouting. So Id say your correct.

I doubt our most expensive signing of the summer was down only to Baldini who was leaving after the summer. That's the thing with a transfer committee isn't it? There's supposed to be an agreement though one person might be the driving force behind a move. Not sure trying to "pin" a signing to an individual member is going to be helpful, apart from in a couple of cases.

Of course. I just meant that a lot of the ground work had been done over several years. He was a long term target that the new algorithms agreed on too.
