Lucas Moura

Social democrats are just weak kneed former socialists, who lack the strength of their convictions. Just what is 'social democracy' anyway, other than being a meaninglessness label for the weak hearted?

Tottenham’s Lucas Moura out for ‘a long time’, Dejan Kulusevski could return for Brighton trip

Tottenham Hotspur forward Lucas Moura will be out for a “long time” with a tendon inflammation.

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte added he was “pessimistic” about Moura’s situation when speaking on Monday. The 30-year-old has not featured since the 2-2 draw at Chelsea on August 14.

Conte also confirmed that Dejan Kulusevski remains out of contention for Spurs’ trip to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Kulusevski, 22, sustained a hamstring injury while on international duty with Sweden and missed the 3-1 defeat by Arsenal on Saturday.

“Moura (is out) for a long time, probably, Conte said. “I don’t know (how long) but he has this problem in his tendon and the therapist they are not finding the right solution.

“He is stopping again. If you ask me that I am optimistic? I am not optimistic I am pessimistic about this situation. To play in this way and to lose a player like him is a big loss for us.

Big loss this with Kulu out and Conte not seeming to fancy Gill at all. Think we’ve missed the option he gives us in recent weeks, not going to be a starter but an underrated player nonetheless IMO.

Not to go full on panic mode but it does seem to leave us a bit short on attacking options, especially with Parrott and Harry Dane (totally appreciate that nickname is lame and won't take off) out on loan.

Not great news re Lucas..I appreciate that Moura's not highly rated by everyone on here but he is a solid option from the bench to mix it up - Despite what some people may say, the guy must get Conte's system otherwise he wouldn't have been picked ahead of other options...

Not sure how likely it is but perhaps if required Gill can come in and sieze the opportunity. It's only I "wot I reckon" thought but I'd bet / hope that the coaching staff have been working with him on more of a RW / RF role cutting in on the right as Conte prefers inverted wide players + Bryan isn't realistically getting in ahead of Son anytime soon.

I don't think its likely at all. Conte just doesnt rate Gil. He never ever plays him, even for a few minutes. The only time he would potentially get any minutes is in the league cup/FA Cup early rounds so players he rates can be rested. He was about the only real attacking player on the bench against the Goons, in a match we was trailing and Conte used 5 subs none of which was him. Gil is not going to have a career here, for as long as Conte is around at least.....

Scary that it’s a big loss but shows why we needed more attacking options this summer

We didn't need more attacking options. We have 4 top quality ones and also Moura who can come in for certain games, City are the only ones with more depth there.
It was more important to strengthen other areas and it still is.

We needed another player who can control a ball and pass
Not things than Moura, son or Richy excel at

Getting proper WBs is a much bigger priority. Get that sorted and the forwards passing won't be as much of a prob as we'll get creativity from the WBs.

Look forward to some useful, less bitchy information on Moura. If he's hurt or lacking prior capabilities, well it is what it is. Been a good servant to the club, doesn't deserve to be trash talked.
Moura envokes some very strange reactions and responses on here for a squad player.

No argument that he’s been a good servant from the point of view of getting his head down and cracking on.

Taking his time as a whole, though (Amsterdam not withstanding) his contribution on the pitch has been limited really. If we want to take the step to winning things he’s exactly the type of player who needs upgrading imo, and who’s needed upgrading on for quite some time.

He was an option under previous managers
Under conte with the way he plays…. He is a very weak link
Some players cause chaos and others give you control. He is the former
I haven’t got an issue with him myself, but he needs to leave to get playing time once he is fit

I still think he might have been Conte'd RWB plan for this season
