Injuries

I’m beginning to worry about upcoming injuries through burnout for a few players. Particularly Kulu, Son and Porro. The amount of work they put in each game is incredible. Has Porro even had a break since the first game of the season?

The lack of cup games helped though

VDV, Phillips, Sessegnon, Bentancur, Maddison and Solomon all back at some point in January.

Last 16 of both the asia cup and afcon begins end of January with the finals of both around the 10th February. Hopefully South Korea, Mali and Senegal don’t keep going all the way to the end but it is possible at least one of them goes very deep.

We also have January to sign a couple of players and the good news there isn’t many games in January at all.

From February onwards we could potentially be in very good shape.

There has to be a nice surprise early return for at least 1 of Bentancur, VDV or Maddison you would have thought

Lol, probably an equal or higher chance of a later than predicted return of some too
Conte questioned our medical staff at some point ... of course he complained about everything eventually too.

I suspect

- Bentancur & Maddison towards later Jan
- VDV, Solomon & Perisic sometime in Feb/March
- Sess, don't really think matters (sorry), unless it's to loan/sell in Jan

Nov, Dec & Jan are really going to hurt with injuries, suspensions and international tournaments. If we can be in touch of 4th at beginning of March, we will really have a shot.

Club needs a couple of ins early in january

Perisic is out for the season. VDV and Solomon are both back in January, Solomon maybe even towards the end of December.

So for January, our team (without buys, and barring more injuries and suspensions) could look like:

Or Gill for Skipp, and push Lo Celso forward. That is very thin, and I would say we definitely need to buy at least a centre half, and possibly a forward too, in January. Obviously they need to be ones we were interested in anyway.

He sounds interesting.

Chelsea had a stacked academy, probably a fair few who left in a similar position. Homegrown and going by Wiki he's fluent in Italian, shows a bit about his personality if he's already learnt it.

I shouldn't read social media but I looked this morning and saw quite a few along the lines of "with all the absences, Levy needs to dig deep in January".

Thank f**k fans don't run football clubs. You don't spend tens of millions to cover short term absences. That's crazy stuff. We definitely need a centre back regardless of what happens and maybe a centre forward. Levy gets one or both of those and I'm happy.

It's more like (on social media) "If Levy doesn't back Ange now and get cover early, Levy out"

A few poor resuts and and the muppets will be out with the Levy needs to go phalanx.

I know other teams are struggling with injuries, but are any of them missing the spine of their team?

Romero VDV
Bissouma
Bentancur Maddison
I think you can get away with playing youngsters out wide when you still have a strong core. At the moment we just don't have that.

I am still looking forward to the day we can get a run of games with those players in the team

It's more than that

- Romero, VDV, Bentancur, Maddison are literally some of the best players in their position in the league (other than Bentancur who obviously been out most season, the others were in every pundit's consideration for player of 1st half of season)
- Our biggest issue isn't the drop off in quality from first 11, it's the fact that pretty much only the first 11 is bought for this system, those other teams struggling with injuries have had multiple windows to buy players suited to their current system.
- Critical mass, we can defend with Romero only as CB, 4 FBs creates a problem

Brighton and Saudi Sportswashing Machine supposedly have a lot of injuries. I say “supposedly” because I don’t follow them but whenever they play on tv it gets mentioned a lot. In my lifetime following Spurs I haven’t known an injury crisis like this I know that much.
