Huddlestone

so you dont have the time - fair enough
so you dont have the money - fair enough
so because of that (or even inspite of that) someone else should do it instead - hmmmmm

a lot of people in this country need to look inward and ask "what AM I doing", before being self righteous about what others "ARE NOT doing"

mate I do give money to charity, so dont know what your point is there.

I dont have time, unlike footballers who do! at weekends yeh I have time, I have run half marathons for charity (not a full one yet) but that is in my spare time when im not working. Huddlestone has more spare time than me, but because he is a footballer working 20 hour weeks as opposed to what I /We do, therefore he is able to do a lot more charity than me!

fcuking hell....

I do recall Hudd tweeting that he was going to make a donation too.

When I make a donation or do something generous I like to keep it on the 'down low'. I find it crass to make a point of telling people, I see it as a form of bragging. It may well be that the Thudd feels the same.

could well be and I did not think of this.

alas, I shall speak no more on the point. charity is charity and he is doing a good cause.

so you give a portion of your money to charity, out of choice - does anyone tell you you should give more because you have more than them? i think its very likely there are people with less disposable income than you.

but you choose to give the ammount (money and time) you feel is right and fits in with your life and its quite evident Hudd does the same. so what if he has more time or money - he made a choice, as have you, to make a certain contribution so for you to try and dictate that he should spend more doesnt stand up to scrutiny.
(unless you do give all of your disposable income and spare tiem to charity - which if you do i applaud you, will tell you i respect that as i know i couldnt and would apologise)

It takes the average joe along time to get to the same disposable income total than that of a Professional footballer has over a month.

Most people could live a happy life of the interest of a premiership footballers wages.

totally agree, same goes with bankers et al - but its no reason for others to dictate how they spend it

Everyone always says if I had x amount of money I'd give to this charity or that worthy cause but in reality people dont. It is human nature to be greedy and to always want more. Its why there is such a divide in wealth in the world and there always has been. We live in a world where in one part, you have obestity as a main cause of death and in other parts starvation. The only reason they give money at any particular time is to make themselves feel good and get an ego boost. Also its easy to spend someone elses time and money because it has no value to you.

Completely out of context. fudge me some of u need spoon feeding. Here we go I'll do it for u.

I am not rich and I am not a footballer but I give money to charity and money outside of my disposable income.

I also give time outside of my work time to charity but can not give as much as I would like to as I dont have that much time after working so hard.

I think ALL footballers are greedy and huddlestone doing this charity website is gonad*s. OMG I'm growing my hair for charity. Let's raise some money.

The guy is a millionaire and making £75k for charity yet u people think he's Jesus and being a great saint. I could scratch my balls and that is physically more effort than he is doing yet I could not make a charitable worth out of it.

You lot that are arguing this basic topic of him not putting his own money where his mouth is are pathetic.

And u have completely taking this topic out of context. I stick by my guns that he still isn't doing anything great, unless he gives exactly 75k , the exact same amount he's asking for, then the whole thing is pointless. Night night

So encouraging others to donate is pointless? We should just cancel stuff like comic relief i guess.

Huddlestone out for the season

I know it's covered in the injury thread but this is serious enough to deserve one of its own

Injured Tom Huddlestone out for the rest of the season

Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone has revealed he will have further surgery on his ankle injury and miss the rest of the season as a result.
"Thanks for messages! My season is over before it's even started. Operation Friday," said Huddlestone on Twitter.
"My main objective is to make sure I'm 100% for pre-season."
The 25-year-old has made just four appearances for the club this season because of the injury and first had surgery late last year.

Tottenham now say he requires further surgery to complete his recovery from the ligament damage.
"The midfielder has progressed well since his initial surgery," the club said in a statement.
"The specialist has determined that the anticipated reconstruction of a lateral ankle ligament is the next step towards the England international making a return to full fitness."
Huddlestone has established himself as a key figure in the Spurs set-up in recent years following his move to White Hart Lane from Derby in 2005.
He made more starts than any other outfield player in all competitions in the 2009-10 season as Tottenham finished fourth in the Premier League and qualified for the Champions League for the first time.

Terrible shame for him, as he was one of our best players the year we came 4th but he's been constantly injured for the last two years. This year of all years must be heartbreaking to miss considering how good we've been. He was probably in with a chance of a Euro 2012 spot with a good year this year.

I do wonder where he'll fit in with everything next year when he's fit again.

Devastated. Love the way this guy plays. Such a technician. And his passing...

Always worried players never come back to their best level after such a long time out.

Absolutely gutted for the lad. I was looking forward to seeing him playing in this team and linking up with our new attackers.

Guess we'll have to wait till next season in order for some more additions to his collection of thunderbolt goals...

Think it was extremely optimistic to hope he'd be back for the run in.

It's most probably best for his long term fitness that he remain out of competitive football untill he undergoes a full pre-season with the team. He's still got time to be a great player for us and will do so once he's finally been given the chance to properly recover. Will be like a new signing next season.

His afro is going to be twice the size of Benny's by that point though

One of the best players to watch I'v ever seen. Not perfect, but so exciting and creative. He would be perfect in this team, maybe not as a starter but definitely as an option, and he could really unlock defences and unleash Bale! Gutted!
