General Transfer Discussion Thread

I think Song is a much better passer than Sandro, and at least a much better passer than Capoue showed himself last season (although he was promising at the start and then later faded when he was clearly out of form so perhaps a bit too soon to judge).

To put it like this, would Barcelona with their passing style have signed Sandro? No chance, no how, no way. I know it hasn't exactly worked out for Song at Barca, but the fact that they even signed him should be a pretty clear indicated of what kind of level he is at on the ball.

I agree. Schneiderlin would still be my first choice because he appears to be Poch's first choice but Song is a top class player and his experience would be a massive bonus too.

I agree fully.

To be clear, I haven't seen much of Song in the last couple of seasons as he's spent most of it on the bench and I'm not watching Barcelona vs Levante and similar games. His last couple of seasons at Arsenal were very impressive though.

Song's not a DM though is he - passing is more his specialism. He plays best when he's got a DM behind him (like Schneiderlin too).

I'd hate Song to come to Spurs, good player or not. Just don't like the man and not sure we really need him either.

No thanks to Song.

I love how fans hold one moment of madness against a player. But we all love Defoe, who bit Mascherano. We all love Holtby who went flying in in pre-season. We all love a bit of blood and thunder. Until it's not one of our own.

Please.

Hang on a second, fella. Only one person has made the point (in isolation) that you're attributing to all of us (apparently).

I don't wish to sound negative but it does all seem to be going a bit tits up for us in this window. Not having a great amount of luck with our supposed targets.

Southampton agreeing to sell everyone but the two players we're after.
Villarreal being unable to come to an arrangement with the other shareholders in Musacchio's registration.
Hector Moreno breaking his leg.
A need to offload a significant number of players but none of them being willing to leave.

It doesn't appear, on the face of it, as if any deals are close to completion (though of course that could change and, who knows, maybe there'll be a VDV style, out of the blue signing?). Very little by way of encouraging itk or media reports.

I'm not overly bothered because it wouldn't be a bad thing if Poch got at least five months to have a proper look at the players already on our books before adding what we can in January and then, in all likelihood, making bigger changes next summer. My one concern, though, is that we do ideally need a new centre back. So, if Musacchio is out of the question, then we should be going all out for Nastasic.

Did either of those players play for the Scum?

Regarding outgoings, I think clubs clearly know now that we have to sell so they are blatently holding off for another 10 days hoping to get players for cheaper fees knowing we should get desperate.
On the same note, those players that have only been offered a move to Hull (allegedly) would obviously be wise to wait another 10 days or so to see if a better club comes in for them (I know I would lol). Which is the smart thing to do for both parties.
Doesn't help us much when we get to the end of windows but it's not like we didn't know this could happen, it's just annoying we seem to make a big deal out of haggling on all our incomings AND outgoings.. and this is the result. Saying that, the upside is that Levy is often complemented for getting the best deals when selling players normally and not getting screwed for the most part.

Agreed i think the biggest concern is not being able to move players on...i think there are other targets out there but these probably wont be pursued until one or two have been sold.

its awkward for us because IMO we have a squad of players of similar ability so there isnt definite players to be sold so its just a case of if theres any interest from other clubs for numerous players. But perhaps there has been very little OR not enough money is being offered.

I think the loans will come probably right near the 31st Aug based on signings.

Actually Jimmy, I wasn't attributing it to all fans (apparently or otherwise).
I'm gonna come off like a bit of a dingdong here, but I don't care.
I just read in another thread that you think indianspur "implied" something he didn't say.
Now you're "implying" that I said something I didn't say.

Reply to the posts, not the alleged implication, yeah?
You're a fcking marvelous poster, and your stadium work is incredible. Maybe be a little less tetchy.

Really? THAT'S the reason? I thought we gave up on that crap when Gallas and Adebayor signed for us? Or do we only forget gooner connections when they put a Spurs shirt on?

Gallas won me over with his heroic performance against Arsenal and he was free.

Adebayor left Arsenal and showed he couldn't care less about them, he won me over by stamping on a rapist and sliding in front of the ****s when celebrating, plus he was better then what we had and Emirates Marketing Project pretty much have him to us.

Song is an ex arsenal Scum, who's a dirty player and no better than what we have. It's like asking me if I'd want flamini.

Di Maria will leave RM in the coming days IMO.
Eriksen? Can't see him develop that much, but I've been wrong before.
Lamela? He's come back stronger, fitter and it looks like his confidence is on the up. Big season ahead of him, and lets hope he starts showing what he did with Roma. Then they is the limit for him, and I guess RM would be knocking at Levys door in a few years time.
