Teams in bold have direct entry to the play-offs. Teams in blue are those transferring from Champions League qualifying.

The seeded teams may change depending on those teams that advance from earlier rounds, however teams with a coefficient of 19.185 or more are guaranteed to be seeded if they reach the play-off round. In the group stage, teams with a coefficient of 54.542 or more are certain to be in Pot 1.

Re: The Race for Europe/6th Place

Rio Ave looks good. Beach resort in the sun, and they've got a midfielder called Andre Vilas Boas.

Re: The Race for Europe/6th Place

These coefficients are a bit weird sometimes, no disprespect to Hull City, but IIRC they have never ever competed in Europe but have a ranking of 16.949, whereas you have the likes of Rosenberg (Norwegian champs about 100 times and Euro-regulars), Feyenoord, and Dinamo Moscow with less points!!

You get additional points from your country's ranking (how other teams from that association have done in Europe over the last 5 years). Another gift from UEFA to the rich clubs.

Re: The Race for Europe/6th Place

Yes, that 16,949 is five years of the England rank, which was the highest at the beginning of that period (I assume Spain and possibly Germany are higher now).

Another odd thing is that the CL and EL games seem to count the same. So a club with a good record in the EL can have a higher ranking than perennial CL sides.

From the group stage onwards a win is a win, but CL teams get bonus points for every round they progress and tend to get 5-10 points more depending on how far they go.

No chance. UEFA have determined that we can only be drawn against teams whose country of origin has a U or Z in its designation. (*Z*), (*U*), (U**), (**Z) etc

Re: The Race for Europe/6th Place

Good draw too, decent chance to progress. No Rhyl this season

In an ideal world, they'll defy all odds and make the play off round, and I'll get to go home and away. But it will never happen, I'll have to settle for watching the Green and Black army beat those pesky Irish!

Re: The Race for Europe/6th Place

i hate to say it but winning this now is probably the best way of getting to the CL, and of course its a trophy \o/

You're probably right because being in it makes finishing in top 4 so much more difficult.
