Erik Lamela (announced by Roma p.41)

Re: Erik Lamela

Defo a boat. Could be a P&O on it's way to Dover.

Realistically he's got the day off and enjoying a trip to one of the many Italian islands.

Maybe we're doing medicals on a Thames cruiser these days, to increase anti-Mourinho security.

Re: Erik Lamela

If you Google Lamela and girlfriend you get a photo of them on a holiday wearing the exact same clothes.

Nothing to see here :(

Re: Erik Lamela

Roma are trying to complete a deal for Adem Ljajic so this might be a Bale situation where they don't want anything done until they complete the Ljajic signing first. The problem with this is that the player has made it clear he prefers Milan who don't seem like they either have or want to stump up the cash.

We basically have to hope he decides to join Roma rather then sit out out a year until Milan are willing to make their move.

Re: Erik Lamela

don't they need to get some cash in regardless?

I don't think their situation is as bad as the media make out (financially anyway). They've been linked to some young Argie kid for a while now and have had a few bids rejected. The kid is meant to be an attacking midfielder with huge potential so they probably think with him and Ljacic they're better off.

I know they've sold a lot but they've also spent quite a bit too.

This is my fear for us trying to get someone in rather than the planned Willian signing as well. Unless a club is over-stocked with players or in financial difficulty, not many are going to sell a top class player and go into the season without a replacement

Roma forward Erik Lamela has arrived in London to complete a £30million move to Tottenham as Gareth Bale’s protracted switch to Real Madrid threatened to turn ugly.

Spurs have been in talks with the Italian club for a fortnight but stepped up their efforts after Chelsea hijacked their move for Willian last week.

The issue over Lamela has been the fee but Spurs agreed to raise their offer from £25.5m to ensure they did not lose out on another target.

Spurs have offered the 21-year-old a £66,000-a-week contract and, significantly, he was left out of Roma’s starting XI against Livorno on Sunday.

It will be the third time this summer Spurs have broken their transfer record, having paid £17m for Paulinho and £26m for Roberto Soldado.

The Argentina international, who predominantly plays on the wing, made a huge impact in Serie A last season, scoring 15 goals in 35 games.

The deal is expected to be announced before the second leg of their Europa League qualifier against Dinamo Tiblisi on Thursday, which should pave the way for Bale to finally complete his world record £86m move to Madrid.

Spurs are only prepared to let Bale leave once they have signed a replacement and Chelsea’s swoop for Willian delayed it.

The 24-year-old travelled to Marbella at the weekend in the hope he would soon be unveiled at the Bernabeu only to be ordered in for training today.

However, the Wales international chose to remain at home and a source close to him reportedly said he was “furious and more frustrated than ever” that Spurs have still not let him go.

Chairman Daniel Levy, who was at the training ground today, is refusing to be hurried by Real and is understood to be angry at their attempts to push the move through.

The Spanish club, who still hope to present him to fans at their stadium tomorrow, mistakenly put Bale shirts for sale on their website and also constructed a stage at the Bernabeu days ago, which will be used as part of his presentation to the world media.

A six year contract worth £150,000-a-week has been agreed but Bale’s refusal to train today will put relations between him and the north London club under even more strain.

Spurs are still interested in Zenit St Petersburg forward Hulk while Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen is another target.

Please do the medical in a place with no phone signal [-o<

Will there be some sort of infinite regress problem here? Roma have to get their replacement ready, say Fiorentina have to get their Ljaic replacement ready, whoever they sign from have to get their replacement ready and so on and so on until infinity?

Could we potentially loop this problem by identifying the Bulgarian third division club that's the 25th step away from our Lamela signing and negotiating to sign Berbatov's third cousin's sister's kid in a deal where the two clubs are locked in negotiations and the selling club is demanding a second six pack of cheap Bulgarian beer to let the player leave?

If Sky report Levy on his way to Bulgaria with a six pack in his carry-on I predict a domino effect and Lamela to be done very soon after that.
