Coronavirus

I have a feeling the basic plan (ie the Gov) is to wallop thru boosters as an insurance against serious illness then let Omnicron wash thru unabated in double quick time (the dream they had right back at the beginning), so ramping herd immunity and hoping that triple vac and natural infection is the immunity golden ticket

There isn't really an alternative. It's probably nearly half way through that happening already. It could be done with by mid-to-late-January at the rate its spreading.

cant remember if i shared this previosuly but a lot of investigation on whether Omicron came through the human population. Sars-Cov2 is different to many other viruses as it seems to flow about between human and animal population with ease.

A recent study on whether Omicron came from Mice has just been produced. Remember early on in the pandemic people were concerned about Mink and the ability they were picking up, and mutating Covid, leading to them slaughtering thousands of animals (by the way, these Mink weren't being raised for Pets let's be honest, they were always going to be slaughtered).

I thought they were pretty sure Omicron came from Covid and some cold viruses mutating together in someone with HIV?

Have felt a bit rough since Sunday. Headaches, sore throat, bit of a cough, fatigue. Comes and goes. Lots of kids in my classes have tested positive this week. All my LFTs are negative though.

Maybe just an old-fashioned cold?

I’ve also been feeling under the weather since weekend and doing LFT every day but hopefully just a traditional coronavirus.

Guess we should know one way or another by start of next week if either of us become infectious but PCR if you want to be doubly sure.

Anyone with symptoms but not feeling too bad and don't have relation concerns are going to think twice about being tested....10 days isolation is now bridging the Xmas holidays, and loads won't want that interruption.

Isn't that just everyone without school children for the past 6 months?

Confused, this looks pretty brick? death curve on par with previous? Excess deaths maybe not, but SA recording of such things isn't exactly cosidered world beating?

I guess the 'good' news is that if cases are levelling off, death rate can't increase to Delta levels per JBM's point.

Dunno where they are getting the graphs. The ft hasn't published them online.

Last time they looked doctored. I posted the link to the original ft article which was different by quite a bit.

The nicd reports which the graphs are meant to represent are here.
