I think that Uefa actually made so that if this scenario happened the team that gets screwed over goes straight into the group regardless of the scenario you quoted. Might be wrong but I am pretty sure I have read it somewhere before.

I'll play, but it is tricky because they play different formations really. But if you had the best of both teams in a 4-4-2 (Utd's preferred formation)

I don't think there is much in it between Modric and Lampard, but I'd give Lampard the nod because he chips in with goals and his passing in the final third tends to be a bit more cutting than Modric. He has a bad rep in England, but there is also no denying that he has been a key player in a lot of very successful Chelsea teams so he clearly is a lot better than he is rated by England fans.

Didn't think Robben was THAT bad last night to be honest. Yes he missed the penalty but he was heavily involved in the match. I don't personally like him on the right, but I always felt a little bemused when he was raved about at Chelsea. Couldn't see the fuss then, and can't really see the fuss now. He is an excellent player who falls short of being world class, and I thought last night I thought he did OK. That's the first time I've really paid attention to Gomez and it proves that if you have a striker whose only attribute to the team is to score goals then he is a waste of a shirt if he fails to score.

I thought Ribery looked poor too, but the moment he went off Bayern lost all shape and their possession threat nullified. Just goes to show that a player can have an off game but still be vitally important to the team simply by being available for a pass etc.

Seems pretty fair on both counts. Though I'd have Nani over Mata, and Luka over Lampard. Perhaps the latter is just Spurs bias.
 
Has uefa confirmed arsenal go to group, or they get our qualify round spot because Cfc got the automatic group spot?

They hadnt last i checked.

I couldn't argue too hard over Modric/Lampard. Lampard excels in a 4-5-1, but doesn't seem to be as involved in a 4-4-2. Also with Mata, I don't really think he is a wide player in a 4-4-x formation either, but I do rate him higher than any of the current Utd wide men (I rate Valencia above Nani, and I think Ashley Young is very over rated) but again maybe not in a 4-4-2.

I think Chelsea's squad is a lot stronger than Utd's (and ours) as demonstrated last night really.

As an American, I can say that parity in sports is a great thing. It means that, technically, every team in the league has a chance to go far. It's great for the fans.
 
I pray daily for a European super league. The interest would wane very quickly if these teams played every week believe me. fudge off anyone in the EPL who wants to go. Get Forest, Leeds and Sheffield back up where they belong and we can have a competitive league with wage caps and proper regulation.

The TV money would stay in the EPL believe me. Is the bread and butter. If its that transient that Chelscum and Cuteh can just buy the league and thereby qualify as 'big' clubs then it's not sustainable. And we make it a one way ticket. You want the super league? Good. You can never come back
 
The yanks wrote the book on sports marketing. And they think parity is a good thing. The current situation is unsustainable and will ruin the game, (if it isn't ruined already) I'm going to start following York as they are just up the road and have 3000 hardcore fans who've been to hell and back with them. Spurs will always be by first and true live but I ain't spending my hard earned filling the picked of vermin like rat face.
 
Robben's end product was woeful last night - other than that he played well i guess - but his shooting and set pieces were terrible

it WAS us out there.... albeit in Red... with that many Spurs fans supporting Bayern, it was bound to have an effect...
