I can't imagine 4/5ths of the premiership were impressed by the comments, even allowing for the fact he was aiming at Savage.

I think what he's saying is he can put up with nonsense if it's presented in an entertaining fashion, but what he can't put up with is boring nonsense. I can't stomach it either way, personally, which is why I hardly ever watch any of the chit-chat before, during or after televised games if I can avoid it, but I can appreciate the distinction.

We desperately need to play them before things start to turn their way. We all know the revival will come. We don't play them 'til 29 November*, I dread we'll miss out. Once they get on a roll they'll be that fired up they'll be pretty much unstoppable.

I'm inclined to agree. They didn't go from a championship winning team to nobodies overnight. They have the talent, which for some reason is underperforming.

The why is the key. What has happened to Chelsea? The only thing as strange as the loss of form is the handling of Eva. Perhaps there is a common cause.

At this stage we have to ask if they can recover under Mourinho (who is, incidentally, linked with United next summer in today's press). It shouldn't be the key factor, but one should never underestimate the minds of footballers.

The report by Jon Moss that got Mourinho suspended:

When myself and my colleagues left the field of play at half time, as we entered the tunnel area to get to our dressing room, Mr Mourinho the Chelsea Manager was waiting for us clearly agitated and began aggressively asking about first half decisions. Rather than publically speak to him I asked him to step into the entrance of my dressing room escorted by Simon Sutton, the West Ham United Security Manager. Mr Mourinho asked me about a tackle, an offside and a goal line clearance. I gave him brief answers to his questions. After this I asked him to leave the dressing room area. He refused. I asked him again. After he refused again I asked Mr Sutton to escort him from the room. At this point Mr Mourinho became very aggressive and animated. He shouted that you fudging referees are weak…Wenger is right about you…you are fudging weak. I advised Mr Mourinho not to take his position in the technical area for the second half due to his actions.
