***OMT Tottenham Hotspur vs Southampton ***

FT 5-2. Brilliant going forward. Poor at the back in the second half. Only Verts played well there. Lloris particularly shaky. Lucky we have the goal machine up top.

Our defense is pretty irredeemably sh*t without Toby, but we've known that for years now.

Kane is a goddamn GHod.

Son is pretty damn good.

Alli's f*cking great when he has a point to prove, even if Verts is 100% entitled to rage at him for messing up that breakaway when Verts was straining every muscle to get into the box.

Aurier is pretty damn good on the wing.

All told....it's a pretty goddamn great Boxing Day, despite it all. :D

Mentally weak? Really? Or just not quite in the top bracket?

I do think he is mentally weak. You only had to look at him in the tunnel pre-Emirates Marketing Project to see the latest evidence of that. Seems a lovely bloke, good shot stopper, but not mentally strong enough to be an effective captain or a really top-notch keeper imo.

Shots on target today: Spurs 6 - 8 Southampton

That's a bloody weird stat. Will be interesting to see the xG (yeah yeah, I know some of you hate it :p), I suspect it's in our favour by a good margin. We looked a bit suspect or lazy defensively throughout the game, but thankfully Soton going for it made it possible for us to counter them to pieces. Nice to see Alli back on his game, he's got that oomph about him again, lovely to see. Son with another excellent match. Eriksen firing as well, lots of lovely touches and passes. Kane - what's left to say, really. 18 goals so far this season, just insane. Rose positive too, getting in to his stride now, finally!

I thought Aurier looked good. Dier and Lloris the most disappointing for me. Dier looks uninterested at times, and does a few weird pointless things (but also had a few good involvements, to be fair).

Anyways, a 5-2 win, no point being negative. Party football at times today. :D

He's a really good but not great keeper. I suspect that we'd struggle to get a better one though.
He's an extremely good goalkeeper, but I too sense he is not mentally strong. Not a brutish, hyper confident chap. More of a thinker, a philosopher, prone to concern. But I'll stop there because Parklane is already typing something about body language University and 'abacus games.

Nice win today, champagne football at times.

I missed what he was doing before the City game. What was it?

I agree that he is not quite in the top bracket of keepers but he's still very good. On his day, as good as anyone but too inconsistent to be in that top group.

He's captain of his club and country. It would appear that people who know him better than you and I do not think that his mental strength is a problem.

What's with the tense, drawn I'm about to burst into tears face? At times, I want to burst through the screen and give him a fudging good slap.

Can understand the disappointment with the Lloris errors, but as someone said above, we wouldnt be able to get anyone better. We also arent in a position to blow £30m gambling on whether we could

Very nice to get a comfortable win today - thats 4 wins in 5 league games and as I said after the Man C debacle, that result wouldnt matter much if we took 12 (or perhaps 10) points from our 4 league games which followed over xmas and early Jan. Two more wins and we'll have some momentum and belief and be tidily positioned for the final 4 months, despite not having had a brilliant start to the season

Just what was needed for a Boxing Day lunchtime kick off. Fast flowing football, everyone looking on form, plenty of chances created, lots of goals, a couple of silly giveaways to the opposition just to keep us from getting too carried away. And a record setting, hat trick hero as the iceing on the (Christmas) cake.
Roll on 2018.

(5-1 score with a Kane hat trick was looking very nice for me for a while. But I'll happily take the hat trick and just enjoy the win).
