OMT: Everton vs Mighty Spurs

Win away, Kane scores a brace, Eriksen chips in, Davinson starts, clean sheet = Job Done.

On to Wemberlee and Dortmund !!

Good to see Harry get off the mark, Eriksen was great and all up it was a great performance. I thought Sissoko was good in the first twenty minutes, but he was embarrassingly bad late in the second half. He has no fine touch at all. Of more concern to me was Delli. He just doesn't look right psychologically to me and I am not happy with the diving and show boating. He needs to be given a short, sharp shock.

I haven't seen the game yet. Osman was praising his carrying the ball forward.
I haven't seen the game but would rather listen to the analysis of a BBC pundit and ex player over the masses on this forum. I've watched enough of him and thought was decent enough, only to come on here and find him ridiculously overcriticised. I can't remember a player since Jenas that has suffered similar treatment and is largely unjustified. His finishing is awful, but the rest of his play isn't anywhere close to being as bad as is implied on here. If it was, he wouldn't get anywhere near the bench let alone the pitch, yet he keeps getting minutes....

Poch must see something in him because he has got plenty of minutes this season

Well, that was comfortable. Everton had one attack of note, no threatening shots on target I can remember, and were slow and pedestrian throughout - the hallmarks of a team lacking in pace and needing to gel despite that.

We, on the other hand, were mint for about sixty minutes, and then just casual and unconcerned for thirty. September Kane's back, Alli was good, Eriksen was superb, Davies and Trippier did a good job on both flanks, Dier was reliable in the middle, the clean sheet was brought to us by Ajax Defensive Services (tm) with Toby, Jan and Sanchez impressive throughout.....and Sissoko was actually, legitimately pretty good. He's still trying too hard, and you could see that some of his touches and layoffs were just lacking in confidence - but for the first time in a long while, he looked a proper threat, and watching him rampage into the box was brilliantly encouraging despite the lack of end product.

He got a chant as he came off, and I think that was superb from our away fans. He deserved it. Here's to him getting the support he needs and growing into the player we thought he was when we signed him.

3-0, and life's sunny again, if only for a day. ;) Onwards and upwards.

Come on man, there's no need to go overboard on the Sissoko criticism. He was decent to good all game. It's like he needs to play a 10/10 for anyone to give him credit, but if he plays the exact same 6-7/10 as Dele Alli he gets slaughtered like he's the worst player ever. It's baffling. First Jenas and now him. Why do our fans do it? Just support the team!!

Otherwise, great performance. Our game management compared to 2 weeks ago was utterly fantastic. We didn't create much in the last 30 but it was the sign of a mature side. We totally locked it down which is what we needed to do. Really impressed.

A very good performance. It always annoys me a bit that we stop playing when we get a comfortable lead, but for 60 minutes it was a top class performance. We created plenty of chances and were comfortable defensively apart from a few minutes of Everton pressure after our opening goal.

Most players put in a good performance too. Sanchez looked a bit untidy early on, but played well for the rest of the game. Davies was great going forward. Perhaps his best game for us. Great crossing. Dier put in his best performance for a while. It looked like he felt he needed to take some extra responsibility today. He was in a great position when we were out of possession and broke up Everton's play on numerous occassions. Eriksen and Kane also great. Even Sissoko put in a positive performance in a role that was better suited to him. Only Alli of our outfield players put in a below par performance.

I said he was good for part of the first half, which he was. However, even he looked embarrassed by some of his poor touches in the second half. Just for the record, I thought Deli was pretty poor too. Sissoko looks to be completely devoid of any self belief. He should have scored today and what was with his poor forward running? Got caught offside like a ten year old

Wow major fudge up from Poch and akin to the decision to play Son at lwb and trippier over Walker at rwb in the semi.

Not a game to be carrying passengers in this one and my GHod we have one hell of a passenger in our central midfield. All the more laughable when we have Winks ready and able on the bench.

No victory here today peeps and can only hope that when sissoko royally fudges up in this game or one in the future, the manager will finally see the light.

Extremely concerning decision from the boss.
You were saying?...

Dele reminds me of a better Poyet for us. Wouldn't really do a lot in the game but would often come up with a goal, and some good ones at that....

Why? That's 30 minutes beans in the tank for Dortmund.

There was one manager (maybe Mourinho) who said 2-0 is the perfect result and anything else is wasted energy.

Like an exhibition match at times. Passing around with ease and Dier and Alderweireld doing flick ons and putting Everton players on their asses.

Just seen the Sissoko header (assuming it was the one from Trippiers cross)
That wasn't easy as he would have seen it late as it was such a flat cross

Quite.

There's no point running the length of the pitch to spaz it off your own shin, stand 5 yds offside or pass it to someone who's clearly walking back from an offside position.

He did better than a lot of our other players today who don't have to live up to nearly the same standards. Sissoko needs to have a 10/10 game before anyone would praise him. A 7/10 means anything that wasn't perfect gets amplified and that just isn't fair. Have no idea why this happens.

He obviously started today because Poch trusts him and sees him as valuable. If he was as terrible as everyone thinks he would have been booted with the Stamboulis of this world.
