Christian Eriksen

I doubt Lamela will be here next year. There are strong rumours about him and if true will rule him out of playing for us again I suspect.

I haven't heard anything outside of the depression and drug use stuff we idly speculated about a while ago. Either way, it doesn't really matter too much - if Lamela goes, someone else will become our second-choice corner taker that we can then call upon if Eriksen continues firing duds. Club our size probably won't have only one designated corner specialist.

He was our general today. Not only in his play, but in his desire. I loved the part were after our second goal he picked the ball out of the net to get the game restarted as soon as possible, as if we were 2-3 goals down. Even though we lost, he showed a winner's mentality, something I didn't quite think he had in him to the extent he showed today.

Played well in general, maybe I'm being picky but his deadball kicks, ie corners and free kicks have in the main, turned to Shiite.
When the ball is in motion, his delivery is excellent. Whether this is because he has more time to think about it when it's static, i don't know, but this has to be addressed. We had so many corners yesterday it was untrue. I appreciate that they perhaps weren't all attacked as well as they could be, but..

He hasn't really been here this year (not his fault obviously) and I'm not sure we'd miss him if he left. I'd actually prefer a pacier player off the bench rather than Lamela

Eriksen is one player that if he leaves, I truly wonder where we will get a consistent replacement from. We need a second player like him. Can we go check if Ajax has another one like him.

Maybe his corners and free kicks aren't as good as his in play passes as the defenders Are organised for the set pieces but not for the in play passes

A lot of people criticise his corners however I was thinking yesterday that a lot of them might get cut out at the near post or before it precisely because that's where he's aiming to put them. The only way we've seemed to be able to score from corners is a near-post ball, usually met by Toby. Hence its stands to reason that a fast, whipped ball to the near post is probably what Eriksen will look for a lot of the time

According to this article that was being discussed in the corners thread, it is exactly what he is trying to do.

It comes to the surprising conclusion that what works in Sunday league may not be as effective in top level professional football.

He has been absolutely brilliant since the turn of the year, his pass for Alli's goal was incredible, if he could improve his his set piece delivery he would be world class

He already is mate, in a team where he shares the assist duty with a lot of other players (CB's/FB's/Son/Dele, even Kane contributes there), he has more than anyone in Europe's top leagues, add he scores goals as well.

His free kicks have gone off, but I think he's overthinking it, a commentator on NBC remarked he saw Spurs in training recently and Eriksen put every free kick in the top corner repeatedly. I'd take him off free kick duty for a couple of games then bring him back in.
