Transfer Rumour Bolleaux

Everton have signed Ademola Lookman from Charlton for around £10 million.

Middlesboro have apparently signed Rudy Gestede. That will solve their goal scoring woes. NOT!

The Defoe-to-West-Ham talk has got me wondering whether we might deliver him from a fate worse than death with the offer of a swansong here. Could he be a fit again, say in a super-sub role? Moyes would have to be crazy to let him go, mind you.

If we had snagged him last season as cover for Kane it would have made a lot of sense. Now I'm not so sure with Janssen in the picture. But as you say, selling him would almost seal their fate relegation wise. They have no one else who can score.

Jose Fonte wants to leave Southampton. We need a 4th senior CB. I thought he looked half decent against us.....what do you think?!? No idea whether he's quick or energetic enough to play in a Poch team though. If he was, and even if he only had two years left in him, he could be a Naybet-esque signing and would allow CCV a couple years to get some more experience whether on loan or in cups

Fonte is a good player, won't leave for a bench gig though, and a few decent clubs are supposedly sniffing.

On other note, Sunderland would be insane to sell JD, he's ahead of Kane on scoring charts in that shower of brick team ... (think they have 15 goals and he has 11 of them .. )

Abel Hernandez's move to Villa has stalled, so the Kane and Abel partnership dream is still on #jimmykong

Given his age though, he might find it difficult to get a regular starting spot at a bigger team than Southampton as most top clubs would by someone with probably only 2-3 years left in them as a first choice player

Tottenham target £40m-rated Fiorentina winger Federico Bernardeschi
The Italy interational caught Mauricio Pochettino’s eye when he scored with a 30-yard drive against Spurs in the Europa League last season.
Spurs want to bring in a wide attacker and Bernardeschi is one of the names on their list.
However, his impressive displays mean the 22‑year-old has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Paris St-Germain.

And totally co-incidental to all this interest from across Europe :
Fiorentina are in talks with his agent Beppe Bozzo over a new contract that would include a £70m buy‑out clause. Although Bernardeschi’s representatives are open to a fresh deal, which would run until 2022, they would prefer there to be no clause.

I don't remember seeing a £40 million player when we last played them. Was he decent or has has he developed a load since??

Tom Carroll will soon be a £40 mill player with the way things are going, so I wouldn't expect too much ...

Berahino not signing a new contract I see. Cheeky little bid for £5mil?
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jan/06/west-brom-saido-berahino-contract

We should give it a go. Nothing to lose, and Levy gets to laugh in Peace's puce-coloured face as he comes in with his '5 million in installments of half a pound a year for the next ten million years' proposal. I have nothing against clubs standing up against bigger teams coming in for their players (indeed, I'd like to see it happen more often), but everything that has subsequently transpired with Berahino has made it clear that Peace's desire wasn't to retain the kid as a vital player to build around, but just to spite us and Levy and wave West Brom's 'we're a big club, dont'cha know' dong around for no purpose whatsoever.

Berahino's career may have been irreparably damaged, and Peace lost out on upwards of 20 million quid (unless Tianjin TEDA or some other Chinese club swoops in to relieve his blushes), so no one came out of that well.

He's been playing well from what I've seen this season however they'll want stupid money simply because he's English

Plus if we sign yet more players for those 3 positions behind the CF (in a 4-2-3-1) then they need to be someone with some real unpredictable creativity (a la Payet, Mahrez etc) which is what we lack, rather than adding yet more depth in those positions - we have 6 senior players for those positions after signing Sissoko and GKN

I think the clue is in the 'double his wages' bit. Henderson makes twice as much as him. Jordan Henderson.
