The General Transfer Rumours and Speculation Thread

Tielemans is not the sort of player we're short of, to be honest: Mason, Alli, Onomah, Dembele, Eriksen...all of them possess some or all of the qualities Tielemans does, and all of them can play in the positions he does.

We definitely lack a rotation option for Dier and a backup f*ckingwadawsxawdkawd striker, but we're not short in the ball-playing aspects of central midfield: although I'd say that Tielemans does pack a mean long pass from what little I know of him, Toby has obviated our need for that sort of thing by playing it out from behind our midfield. Still, if the club think that Tielemans has a higher ceiling than our existing set of options, then great, it's not like he'd be an objectively bad acquisition: he might well turn out to be a superstar. It's just that I don't see the need for him at present.

If we're looking for starlets from Anderlecht, I'd prefer his midfield partner, Leander Dendoncker: he's a defensive mid by trade who also occasionally fills in at CB, and he'd suit our needs to a tee.

I'm sold! The name alone means we should buy him NOW lol

He'd be a great addition to our Dutch contingent. :p

People forgetting how Mason and Dier completely owned Tielemans on bonfire night.

I was very unimpressed by Tielemans in the flesh. Defour was much better.

Isn't that a bit like saying Dortmund completely owned Onomah so nothing to get excited about there?

Playing for an inferior team and against a very good team (us) at 18 he didn't dominate. Big whoop...

I agree he's not the kind of player we're short on.

Comes down to his talent and ceiling as you say. We should only look to sign players in those roles that would improve our current 11 or with massive talent imo.

Here is a question,

If Hazard and Mahrez were available for the same price, who would you choose?

(Assuming also same wages)

Hazard without a doubt. They're the same age. Hazard is in the middle of his worst season ever pretty much. Mahrez in the middle of his best season ever. But Hazard at his best was better than Mahrez at his best (imo). And I think it's very likely that Hazard will regain that form/quality.

I do like Mahrez though.

I'd have Hendersen, but not for that amount, though we know that Liverpool wouldn't look to do business with us. For me he's an improvement on Carroll and Mason, though I'd probably still have Dembele. The Tielemans rumour states a similar fee and I'd rather we went for him ahead of Hendersen.

Mahrez. Simply because I would never sign that clam Hazard.

I'd argue that Mahrez has better sexism still ahead of him

If hazard could do a Mahrez in basically a poo team. I'd give him the credit but he struggled to do a lot until last season

Dempsey Scored and created more that hazard in tehe same Seasons which shows, how poo hazard can be

hazard, if he was available at that price it would be a bargain, at the least we could sell him a year later and double our money
