*** Tottenham Hotspur v Saudi Sportswashing Machine OMT ***

we didn't ever click today and we tired quickly after the half

one of those days

let's not disrespect Watford by the way, look who they have in nets, the only surprise to me is that they have conceded at all

The good thing the new Spurs don't play like that under Pochettino... wait... what?

Frustrating. Players will be just as pis$ed and will work on correcting that. Unbeaten for the rest of the season please.

And for f*cks sake when the hell is Eriksen going to turn up this season?!

I'm not talking about giving some players a rest for one single midweek home match. This isn't about the Monaco game... I'm talking about a more general philosophy. I still do not understand why Kane (and others) flew out to Azerbaijan for example.

Again - to reiterate - I'm a huge fan of Pochettino and I'm hugely impressed with what's happening at our club. Doesn't mean everything is 100% perfect and there are no areas where some improvements can't be made. And right now, I believe a little bit of rotation would do us good (and again; I'm not talking about wholesale changes every week - I'm talking about resting one or two key players for a couple of games - and doing that, with different players, from time to time).

The majority of our first team picks itself these days. But playing our first eleven for every game until they start to fade and our form drops...? There are better approaches (IMO).
Well then don't expect to win any trophies any time soon because we need our strongest 11 in most games and the best they can hope for is a week's rest unless like many countries the premier league implements a winter break. We just don't have the luxury of resting players. I have to say with the army of sports scientists at the disposal of our manager you'd think he would be clearer about the physical condition of his players than the average fan. We just have to expect games like today from time to time oh. and being clever in the transfer market to increase our options on the bench.

@MC_of_A
xG map for #COYS-#Saudi Sportswashing Machine. Another opportunity blown, Spurs again fail to outplay a bottom-half opponent.

Cannot lie, a massive disappointment. Underscores how important Dembele is to our current set-up. Obvious to say but we needed that second goal in the first-half. You have to credit Newcash, they worked their nuts off second-half and made it very uncomfortable for us. I felt for the second match running Eriksen had a hard time getting anything going; Kane was quiet too, but still dropped in and showed great vision in trying to find the quick ball into space...again was surprised to see Lamela subbed but he did play Thursday thus Poch must know his levels, etc.

Again, cannot hide my disappointment, and it was as poor and flat a second-half as we have played all season IMO, but this is a young young side, they will have a few more moments like this and we will bounce back, of that I am sure. Happy that everyone around is stuttering too, keeps us 2 points from 4th but in fairness this was a chance to get in there and we didn't! Onwards and upwards, COYS!

p.s. Alderweireld played some of our best passes/crosses again today. I would like to see him and Dier 'maybe' swapping off for the last 5 mins of games like this where we are trying to look for a win? His quality is unbelievable.

True. If you'd rephrased your initial comment to say that they had more goals on their bench than we did, then you'd have had a very good point. Quality wise, we're probably better: but they have threats to bring off the bench, whereas our subs just look laboured as all hell.

Agree Son and Chadi looked sluggish but I don't think either has found full match-fitness yet. I would've bought Onuha on myself and wonder why Poch didn't. I actually thought we almost went too hell for leather first-half and ended up looking really frustrated. We will learn from this, no doubt...

fudge me, that was disappointing.

Taped the game and watched it now. We didn't click at all in the second half and let a pretty poor Saudi Sportswashing Machine side steal all three points. We should have beaten them with ease, but our performance after the break was very sub par.

Extremely disappointing when you consider that Manu lost and Pool only drew. Yes, it was one of these days, but I'm very, very disappointed with the result.

Three points lost today. fudge that.

True, but it's generally accepted that Poch sides outwork their opponents: this is the second time I've seen us being outpressed and outrun by an opponent in the past two weeks. If we can't beat a hard-working side despite ardently labouring ourselves, then we might have a serious problem: namely, that of being a functional, grafting but largely unthreatening side, which might now start being pressed by our opponents more effectively than we're able to press them.

I guess the worry is that we're a one-trick pony to an extent: we got away with it under Redknapp because his side was the best Spurs team we've ever seen in the Premier League era, but here we now don't have anywhere near the individual talent we had in that side, and thus, we're a bit boned if we do end up like that 2010-2012 outfit.

Will all those ****s on here who were saying things before this game such as 'if you cant rest players against Saudi Sportswashing Machine then when can you' now admit they were wrong?

GB is one who was spouting cr@p like that

A team in the bottom 3, at home, who haven't won back to back games in 41 matches? Nothing's a given, of course, but the odds of winning when resting a player or two against a team like that as opposed to top half opposition have to be better.

As it happens, no first choice player was actually rested today, so your point is?

Apparently I'm one of those ****s. And frankly today demonstrated (to me) that we should be rotating a bit more. Resting a couple of players and bringing in fresh legs with something to prove? I think we might have won today if we'd done that. But it's all just opinions, right?

Well put.

I don't think there are any excuses for today. I don't accept it's just down to rotation. We were not good enough today. Saudi Sportswashing Machine wanted it more in that sense I am dissapointed in Poch and the team. But my confidence in the manager and team is unchanged.

Perspectives.
Let's not go there
What I would say is that first-half we could've comfortably had 3.
Poor second-half for the second week in a row and that's what hurt us again. We are missing Mason as a squad member for sure, and to a lesser extent Bentaleb, who needs minutes for sure.

Good sides do the same in second halves, Steff. Still, you're right, perspectives and all that.

We do need the creativity of Mason back, even if its rough-hewn. And Christ, we need to drop Eriksen if that' what's necessary: corner aside, he was utterly anonymous again. Even his free-kicks were sh*te.

Naw. We'll give away three stupidly easy points to some struggling minnowa who haven't won all season and would look mediocre at Evo-Stik level. the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, gifting points to the needy and helping to rebuild the form and confidence of the critically sh*te.

We are an extremely good side and we are very young. We had another poor second-half. I believe we will learn and push on because Poch doesn't do passengers. Yes, whilst I do not want to hang it on one or two players, these are the days we look for Christian to show up and make it happen. It is pressure but when you have his quality it is to be expected. As my mate just said, lets go on another 14 match unbeaten run and turn a fee more draws to wins!!!!!

I was actually amazed Cisse didnt score, as soon as they mentioned he had never scored against us I was almost going to put a bet on
