Saido Berahino

I can envisage "complications" arising next Tuesday after reports emerge that a late rival bid has been received. Even if they're not actually interested, they may try to troll us and delay things at the last minute.

There was a great blog I found on news now which I cannot now find the link to. It suggested that the argument was not about the size of fee per se but rather the amount of risk both sides were willing to take on over berahino. So obviously Jeremy Peace wants a greater proportion of the fee paid up front, whereas Levy , understandably from our recent record of purchases, wants a greater proportion from performance related add ons. Also suggested Fazio deal was linked in as far as it was supposedly a sweetener for the berahino deal but we pulled it when the transfer could not be agreed rather than the "failure to agree personal terms" tripe fed to the media.

That all sounds quite plausible. I'd imagine that Peace will want the payments to offset the payment structure that he has agreed with Rondon and Levy wanting it to match that of Soldado's.

So I think, its pretty clear that Levy now has to choose between bidding £25m or to move on.

I would be tempted to move on; but then again, I dont know who the backup option is.

I'm sure want to sell him, but they know the market value of their asset and want to advertise the fact that no other team is in for him other than us. Give other teams the heads up. Either that or they really are a classless bunch of Norvern Monkeys

There gets a point where you say fudge it, too expensive, whose number 2 or 3 on our list. I'd suggest 25m is the absolute max for him and even that is a push (22m was a very fair offer).
