Chances are just as hard nail down, a duff cross behind a player that a leg is swung at in a crowded box compared to a precise through ball behind the defence, creating a one on one with the keeper. Both count as chances created but hardly equal.

same for all players though isn't it? so over a season or mores worth of data it'll all work out equal.

It's only the same if they are in the same team. I don't think comparing players across different teams on stats works.

and ultimately this discussion is centered around effectiveness, which is about what is produced on the pitch. a player who takes longer to score/assist/create than another can hardly be claimed to be more effective can he?
Actually, yes.

Again, I'm not talking about the specific player here - I didn't watch enough of Palace to have an opinion about this guy one way or the other. But, hypothetically speaking, if you had an attacking player that constantly drew defenders away from others, constantly pressed high up the pitch causing defensive errors in the opposition, and constantly ran the channels forcing the opposition to double-up on him and lose shape... then even if he never scores a single goal or gets a single official assist, he could be described as extremely effective.

Stats are important of course, and people who dismiss them entirely out of hand are being unreasonable. But at the same time - in theory at least - they can actively hide the effectiveness of a particular player.

CM/DM

As I posted yesterday the three names I had heard for DM are, MS(still top target), Kramer(liked but very difficult has many admirers), and Imbula(most likely of the three, but still far from easy).

GK

Hugo has not asked to leave, he has however requested to be kept informed on any offers that should come in for him. It is far from clear just how United will play out the whole De Gea scenario, and they have multiple options should De Gea move on. Was told they have made him an insane offer financially to stay, which as yet he has not turned down.

That said, and I know Jjetset has said he doesn't think so, but I again have been told that we have interest in Matt Ryan, I do believe this is more than just agent rumblings.

RB

Trippier we expect to happen.

Matt Ryan? Interesting that we choose a Quarterback to add some steel and long range passing in midfield. Not sure if the referees will allow him to distribute the ball in his preferred way though.....

it'll be a nice change to see someone other than the manager getting sacked

Don't rate Ryan at all. Un-athletic and a poor temperament. Made some howlers that cost Australia big in the last World Cup. We can do better than him.

Funny but which signings do you have in mind there
Good question ! Winger wise I don't fancy names linked at all and Personally I'd sell all wingers we have .. Lamela Lennon Townsend and I'd even be tempted with chadli but his physical strength and height I like and he does chip in with goals so I'd probably keep him but he can offer so much more ..

What we need here is players who can make a difference , there is way too much of a muchness with Spurs all over the park .. Winger wise we need pace bit of directness and not a one trick pony . We need a winger who has an eye for goal and chips in since we only play one up front ... People may laugh and I know it won't happen but a player like Walcott wHo was having contract issues , a depay was ideal , a Sanchez type who puts defenders on back foot before game is even on is type of winger types we need .wingers who score goals and ease the pressure on Kane .. I'm just hopin Mitchell has eye for a player and can unearth a younger star of future cos current set up of baldini signing likes of Lamela was comical and he is a complete bluffer.

Joe Lewis daughter
...some interesting stuff i think...dan is not really the apple of the enic eye .im told she is a big part of the enic fold. Also is at every game unlike the old man and a big fan of our club incidentally she's married to Craig Johnston. She wants spurs to succeed badly ...win every week. Told she's frustrated with levy (laughed at is levy i was told). They're frustrated with his slow and crap transfer dealings plus the way he's dealt with ground and the metal sheet lot...too long. She carries a lot of weight and influence with the old man and could quite possibly be in the hot seat one day. Lewis was a pal of levys dad and always looks out for danny ...interesting stuff I thought.
