Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Second photo, starting from the yellow vehicle thing, only sticking up about 1 foot out of the ground ...

That's what I thought too. Extending in an arch, disappearing off the photo to the left in the foreground, then extending back... But things I know about construction work would be a very short book, more approaching a pamphlet, with large letters, and no actual information.

LOL if we all wrote a book about football.....

Those are steel sheet piles.
Steel sheet piles are long structural sections with a vertical interlocking system that creates a continuous wall. The walls are most often used to retain either soil or water. The ability of a sheet pile section to perform is dependent upon its geometry and the soils it is driven into. The pile transfers pressure from the high side of the wall to the soil in front of the wall. There are permanent and temporary applications. Permanent sheet piles remain in the ground and serve as permanent retaining structures. Temporary sheet piles are designed to provide safe access for construction, and are then removed.

So does that mean it is just a wall around the site to allow them to dig down inside without destabilising the surrounds?

Basically yes. They can also be used as part of the support for the foundations. But since there are no blueprints of the project, I can't say if they are permanent or not. Most likely it's just as you said, temporary to stabilize during the digging prior to laying foundations.

I thought Daniel would be jumping at the chance to let us in on the latest plans. Now that the Archway debacle is complete how come he is not going out of his way to show us the final plans. Surely he had it all ready to go as soon as Archway was dealt with.

Someone on SC says that since the stadium will be built on clay we could be using friction sheet piles for the foundations. Still no pylons though.

What do you expect. Its all about Levy. He likes the control. Probably release the plans half way through the build so that complaints are pointless. haha

Ungrateful mob. Levy put an announcement on the New Stadium Plans section of the the official site on 6 November 2013 to tell us about the supermarket. There was something on the stadium as recently as 16 July 2012 with Levy at his most loquacious:

The next phase will see the tender process begin for the stadium itself. We continue to work closely with the Mayor and Haringey Council as we look to deliver this major sport-led regeneration in Tottenham.

We shall, as always, keep everyone updated over the coming months with our progress.

Saving it as a sweetener to counteract bad news?
