Harry Kane MBE

I heard it was Kane on a podcast I think

they didn't provide any context though, just assumed it was an unambitious Englishman, for all we know he had valid personal reasons for staying in London

Was that before taking the season long loan at Norwich? Or after he came back early (due to injury), once he got fit again?

We are delighted to announce that Harry Kane has signed a new contract, committing his future to the Club until 2019.

The young striker, 21, made his First Team breakthrough in the second half of last season, scoring in three successive Premier League matches in April.

A product of our Academy system, Harry, born locally in Walthamstow, signed professional terms in 2010 and made his First Team debut aged just 18 in our Europa League play-off against Hearts in August, 2011.

He enjoyed loan spells at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City before his first full season in the First Team squad last term, when he made 19 appearances in all competitions.

Capped five times by England Under-21s, Harry scored a hat-trick for the Young Lions in a European Championship qualifier against San Marino last November.

I never used to get him - he was slow and weak. But he's really impressed me over the last 18 months with how intelligent his play is and how he has bulked out

For me he's the ideal 3rd CF at this point in time. I like the balance of Ade, Soldado and him.

The noises that I have heard from the club about him have always been very positive, even a few years ago

brilliant news. I love this kid and think he has easily got it in him to nab 10-15 PL goals a season. Still only 21 as well=D>

Used to be useless. Now he's worth a place in the squad. I can see an England call up within the season.

Glad to hear it.

Seems to be developing into a good player and is showing he can score goals as well.

Hopefully he can continue his progress. Always great to see a young talent showing his worth in the first team. Would be great if he can develop into a striker who is going to chip in 15-20 goals a year [-o<

he appears to have had those things from a young ago that you cannot teach - footballing intelligence and the ability be in the right place and the ball go in (you may say that is down to intelligence and good/unorthodox positioning) ............... these were probably a reason he scored so many goals at youth level

i remember people saying he didn't look all that when he went out on loan to the lower leagues - but the thing those loans do is toughen you up, make you realise you have to work harder to get the goals

i think with a good run this year in the team he will become a good premier lge player, probably Defoe level in the long term

I think he must've been on an intense sprinting and agility course because when he first came onto the scene it was like watching the QE2 turn in mud, he actually looks fairly mobile now and that was always the big worry for me. I would kinda like him to get a year out on loan at a PL club but considering we only have Ade and Soldado it's not feasible.

I don't like the depth, nor the intensity. Would be more comfortable if we could add someone like Remy or Wickham for about 8-10 mil. Wish we had done this sooner cos now worried that Long at 12 mil will have inflated the prices.

Apart from a good end to last season, Wickham has done nothing to suggest he is worth 8m and certainly nothing to suggest he is a better option than Kane

Well, I think that could be debated. In any event, my point wasn't about whether he is better than Kane at this point, but rather about depth. With the 3 we have, and what they bring, and in four competitions, I'd prefer to add a 4th. Just my 2 cents, and we shall see how it plays out.
