Roberto Soldado

Re: Official - Soldado

To be honest I like the guy as in personally. As a player his positional play has been good but he has been woeful in front of goal. Maybe the new coach can get more out of him.

Oh wait you're asking about him as a person? i think he always says the right things and seems a nice guy.

Yeah lol, thought you disliked HIM, and because he seems like such a nice guy (like Holtby) I want him to do well.

Still think he will come good though, the chances he has missed this season he was burying regularly in Spain. Confidence issue.

Re: Official - Soldado

Townsend would have 100% made it imo and it was clear Hodgson was/is a big fan.

No not spurs form...don't group all the players together. Eriksen performed, Walker performed, Townsend performed earlier in the season, Ade performed. 26m for 2 open play goals in a season :ross: for a striker :ross:

I think he is a much better player than you give him credit for, and hopefully he will show that next season.

I think the mistake was he was bought with a team setup in mind that still included Bale, he should have been given the early round games in Europa (where JD grabbed a bunch of easy goals against **** opponents), and he was dropped at wrong times.

We will see your tune re Ade next season, people seem to have missed that Ade went back to norm for the last month or so.

I agree. Which begs the question, if he's a nice guy and it's beneficial to Spurs for him to do well, why the glee when he doesn't?

Re: Official - Soldado

I was gutted when we missed out on Benteke, but his second season form for Villa was definitely off the boil compared to his first. Villa would have been a good signing for us if we could have mitigated his wages by offloading Ade, but that wasn't to be. As it stood, on paper Soldado seemed a good fit for us, especially if we had played him with Defoe's pace and Soldado's touch/passes/finish. I still think he'll come good next season - the only 2013 signings who I think we should consider binning are Capoue and Chadli, both of whom cost relatively little and can still probably command 75%+ sell-on fees.

Re: Official - Soldado

Odd that they picked Torres, very similar return this season to Robbie.

Anyway, I hope he stays and comes good, same with another KD favourite Paulinho.

Re: Official - Soldado

You can see from his touch and his vision that he is a good footballer. Clear as day. Unfortunately, we haven't played a system that allows us to get the best out of him and quite frankly, I think his football brain is above some of those around him. It was the same thing with Rebrov. He plays balls or flicks balls in that might appear to be rubbish but its more that the people don't read the fact he is going to play a return and don't continue the run. I agree that his finishing has been poor, especially in the second half of the season but I think that is totally down to confidence, nothing to do with ability. You don't score 33 goals in 66 games for Getafe and then move to Valencia and score 81 goals in 141 games and then suddenly turn into a pony forward overnight.

Very good player, very clever and cute with his football brain. May or may not be a proper success here but he will score goals again for someone (hopefully us).

Re: Official - Soldado

Costa -> Chelsea
Soldado -> Atletico
Lukaku -> Spurs

Just a matter of how much money needs to be exchanged.

That's a silly question...a very silly question.

In regards to footballers i separate their personality from their ability on the pitch. As a person he seems nice but as a footballer he's not very good at all thus he needs to be sold asap. I don't judge players based on what they say to the media.

It would have been beneficial for Sherwood to get us 4th but this didn't stop you posting on a daily basis about how ****e he is as a manager.

yep.

I prayed they sell costa to chelski. Firstly because i don't think he's as good as he's being hyped, secondly it meant Soldado was likely to be the replacement and 3 because it means a better chance of getting lukaku. I did fear that Atletico might go for Torres but luckily this doesn't seem to be the case.

That's why I put in the caveat of him being a nice guy - I think it's appropriate to wish misfortune on a person one thinks is a ****. I also didn't want Timmeh to fail, just to **** off, that's a very different scenario.

So, if there's no personal reason to want him to fail, and there's clearly no "Spurs reason", why the glee when he fails?

I've seen some links to Carlos Bacca.

Read what you just typed.

You didn't want 'Timmeh' to fail just to **** off. Well that's exactly the same with me and nogoaldado. I didn't want him to fail but once he did, i mocked him (much like you except you even mock after Sherwood wins a game).

If that's the case, then fair enough. That's not how your posts read to me though. With both Soldado and Paulinho you sound very much as if you enjoy their failures.

Re: Official - Soldado

if Poch can turn Lambert into an England international, then there is hope he can be the one to resurrect Soldado.......who knows. But if Soldado really wants to leave and Atletico are offering decent dollars then it could be wise to do a deal

I mock them after they put in bad performances (much like everyone on here when it comes to their favourites/least favourites).

With Nogoaldado i praised his general play a lot earlier this season....i stated he was far better in that department then i ever remember him being at Valencia.....i stated i will not judge him being that AVB was playing a brand of football that did not suit him at all. After missing sitter after sitter since Sherwood has taken over my patience with him has ran out and i want him out asap.

I can understand that. Do you think the "other skills" shown suggest that there's a good footballer in there somewhere though?

I'd lean towards keeping him on the basis of that for another season.

maybe there is a good player in there somewhere but i'm not a fan of that type of striker anyway. Tbh i think we could do far better and i don't actually think he's suited to this league.
