Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

We've lost 3 of our last 5 and could well lose again at the weekend I think we may have hit our dropoff point.

As for the squad being more capable I'd disagree, IMHO when we had Bale and Modric we were better than we are now.

As for it being BS hour, just because the stats don't backup your hatred of TS that doesn't make them invalid. :)

Well if he has hit his drop off after 10 games, do I really need to say anything?

The squad is better now, however we did play better under Harry (because he was a better manager)

The stats are invalid, sample size is too small (anyone who works with stats will tell you that), and again I don't hate TS, I do however believe he's completely the wrong man for the job at this stage of his career, and does even one person looking at those stats believe TS is a better manager than Harry (even Harry haters)?

Certainly agree the sample size is too low for those stats to be taken as gospel, but I'm a mathmetician and have an inherrent dislike of any stats. :)

Still think the squad with Bale, Modric, VDV (after Modric left), BAE at left back was stronger than our current squad.

The flip-side is that after the Liverpool game, Spurs finish the season with six very winnable matches.

If we can manage to secure those 18 points up for grabs, it would mean a new club Premier League record points haul of 74, regardless of what happens at Anfield.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

i don't worry about that kind of thing, that probably happens 100 times a season, you can't sign every player that gets recommended to you

The league is getting easier though, or at least the gap between the top 7 and the rest is getting much bigger, meaning there's 78 easy points, and the matches between the other top 7 teams determines the order of 1st to 7th.

I do however start to worry when we end up spunking £100m on players without improving our starting 11

And so far we have earned just 1 point from 7 matches against the top 4, pathetic

hahahahaah oh man GB...you've out done yourself here. It suddenly got easier this season right? last season it was still super competitive right?

Jeez imagine we actually did achieve that (doubt we will tbh)? i genuinely feel you will cry.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

He recalls the anguished response of one of his players to the Europa League elimination to Benfica this month, when Spurs came close to overturning a two-goal deficit. “Some of the other players were looking at him like he was an alien but I want them all to be like that. He has that inner burning desire. It chokes me up thinking about it. You don’t want people who are just easy-osy.

Wonder who that was, my first thought was Bentaleb.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Well I would love us to puncture the Liverpool bubble through a real gutsy, backs to the wall defensive performance, with a couple of Soldado goals! Dream on is what most would say. But what an end to the season it would set up for us..... :)

Tomorrow is when we see what Tim Sherwood is made of, in my view. He knows the players now, it will be HIS team as far as I am concerned, just as much as it was AVB's team. Let's see what he does with it.

Or what the players are made of because regardless of what tactics TS has and what substitutions he makes if the players play like sh!t there's not much a manager can do other than get the player off the pitch and he can only do that 3 times.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Obviously the right combination of British and foreign talent is what we need. The problem is we do not appear to have management capable of picking the right players

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Having recieved the most money for transfers in Europe the past X amount of years we must be doing something right... (In terms of managment buying good players)

If we go in to the new season with the same squad + a new LB i think we'll see a better team than last season for sure, the fact we are where we are despite a hugely disruptive season and, depending on whose opinion you listen to, at least half a season with a clueless manager in charge (or both halves for some!) then i think that's a testament to the actual quality of the squad.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I get the feeling from Sherwoods latest comments about having already submitted a list of players he wants next season to Levy it contains a host of players on the wrong side of 30. He alluded strongly that the list contains PL proven players which would aid in helping bed in the younger talent at the club.

Say hello to our new backline.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

This is of course based on that extensive list we have of players Sherwood has bought in his past, as well as all those English players he plays above their rivals in the league.

Ah come on man. This is more of the "Sherwood is a caveman" stuff that really has precious little evidence to back it up. It's exactly the same thing Redknapp was always accused of, despite the fact Redknapp had one of the most exciting, fluid, forward-looking teams in Europe at the time.

If we're talking cavemen, how about AVB? Squeezing the middle, pressing hard all over the pitch, one up front, 2 DM's every game, powerhouse physical players in all positions...

If I'm asked to pick out the Dave Bassett between these three, I know which one I think most closely fits the description.

No ta to Ferdinand, but I'd take the other two (assuming Vertonghen is off).

if Sherwood wants PL proven players, then that just means he would rather take the safe option. From what he says, he wants proven experience, players who have seen it and done it, so of course players like Ferdinand, Lescott, Barry, Milner etc will be of interest to him. He has said on enough occasions that we have a quiet dressing room, not enough characters, so why wouldnt he be looking for exactly those types????
