The mighty Tottenham Hotspur vs Benfica OMT

Agree. Thats why despite how frustrating this season has been i am hopeful that a number of our signings will come good next year.

I agree too. Too early to write the new players off. We need at least another season to judge them properly IMO. Really, the same can be said for Sherwood. If we get the chance to substantially upgrade though, we should seriously consider it. No knee jerk required.

People being way too harsh on Sandro. The game was over when he gave away the pen - well past the 3 mins injury time. We wouldn't have got up the other end anyway. Before that, playing out of position and presumably in charge of marshalling the defence, he was excellent.

Yeah you're probably right just disappointed with the result. Do think however he has not been up to his usual high standards in the last 2 games.

Knew that it'd come right with Chadli. He was too good to be simply be labelled as being ****.

It just shows that labeling a player as shyte and not looking at signs of their ability is short sighted. Check the Chadli thread for people writing him off.

But same applies to Sandro, Rose, Paulinho etc. They have clear ability.

This. I thought Sandro and Fryers looked one of our better CB pairings this season, not much of a compliment I know but anyway.

There are very few Tottenham players in Barca or bayern. Sadly there's two at Madrid :)

I'm not saying he wouldnt get in their team. That not my argument.

I'm saying there is no guy sitting in their midfields just to tackle.
Sandro is a midfielder that just tackles.
You cant have a midfielder that does that anymore. Its completely outdated. Its like having a striker that is just a goal poacher. The rest of the team suffers because that player does just one thing.

I agree wit that - in midfield he's been a bit all over the place recently, but tonight I thought he was much more focused. Until the last kick anyway.

i didn't expect a win tonight, i didn't even expect a draw, i missed most of it, but what I did see and the way its ended has still managed to **** me off

Best I've seen Fryers & Chadli. Naughton is getting best crosses in from the right fairly regularly.

After the subs (when it was really really nothing to lose) we picked up the speed, went to only two wingers and suddenly became Spurs again.

Strachan is a rubbish expert, no wonder no-one wants him as a manager. Jenas is the best Spurs rep on any panel I've seen for years (Ghod aside). He's articulate, speaks English like what it should be spoke, and didn't ramble.

Nonsense IMO. Before his injury he was hands down the best defensive midfielder in the prem. Re-cycled the ball fantastically and very rarely gave possession away once he won it back.

He's going through a bad patch hopefully his injury hadn't impacted him so badly that he can get back to where he was before.

Also has a fantastic shot on him.

Not gutting, but a shame we didn't force home a third goal. We had them on the ropes. One of Lennon, Rose, Sig, Kane needed to force it home. We had about 5 half chances to do so. Would have been a great story.

Though we would have lost on pens probably after creating chances to win. We need ruthless finishers out there. We shi1 it too often when near goal.

My point isnt his ability. He could be the best defensive midfielder in the world but being a pure defensive midfielder isnt enough.
Its an outdated position now.
Would be we want the best sweeper in the league in our team? or an outside right or a left half?

Just seen the Kane foul in the box on itv4 + 1 definitely a penalty in my opinion. Push in the back not a shoulder barge. If that is anywhere else on the pitch it's a free kick. Oh well...

Agree with two; completely disagree with the idea that Rose has clear ability. Unless we're talking about the uncanny ability to drill crosses into the crotch/body of the closest defender from the wing, or put the ball out under little to no pressure. ;)

agreed............. he didn,t need to make the tackle though....anyway ..he played well in the defence!
