Fourth - who are we going to beat to it?

Re: Is our Premiership season over?

The season is over in terms of a top four finish. Hopefully its not too late to start making some positive moves for next season.

We need to get Lamela into the team and give him a run, play Eriksen for GHod's sake, give Fryers a go in place of Rose.

Lets see who is in contention for next season and who not. As much as I don't rate him I'd even say give Chadli a run in the side. I guess he must have something about him as we paid good money for him.

I'm concerned about the futures of some of our better players: at the risk of sounding overly negative I'd be surprised if Lloris or Vertonghen are here next year.

I wouldn't blame either of them for leaving really either, why should they have any loyalty to Spurs beyond putting in a shift in return for wages?

If we give something like (injuries permitting):

..........................Lloris

Walker...........Vertonghen.......Chiriches.......Fryers/Rose

............Capoue................Dembele

Lennon...............Lamela.....................Eriksen

.........................Ade.................................

a go, plus appropriate playing minutes for Townsend, Paulinho, Sandro, Sig etc then we might get some value out of the remaining weeks.

We may as well start beginning to weed out the chaff in preparation for next year.

Give youth lads a go rather than Naughton etc who blatantly are not good enough.

Re: Is our Premiership season over?

I don't get this attitude. Any season we don't qualify for Europe is a failure.

Agree with this. We need to aim for 5th (the best I believe we can do) and then write UEFA a nice letter saying "Thanks, but no thanks."

With the right manager we can get through the group stage while rotating heavily. Keep one or two first choice players in both defence and midfield and fill the bench with kids.

Not for me it doesn't

Not winning a trophy is failure to a point

The Europa league has been dummed down more and more and is a shambles now

Liverpool have shown that not having the number if games we have helps massively

If be are to ever get anywhere we do not need the drag of 3000 mile round trips on a Thursday night/Friday morning

How exciting is it to play a team from a city we have never heard of at half 5 because there 3 time zones away??? It ain't at all for me but that's just my opinion

It's not just the group stage though - the next couple of rounds will cause fixture problems too.

Re: Is our Premiership season over?

No. Liverpool have dropped points fairly regularly this season. It is harder after today's result but we need to keep aiming for 4th and see where we end up.

More disappointing, this season or 2011/12

May seem like an easy answer to say the year Chelsea won the CL but come on admit it, who wasn't excited about the prospect of bringing players like Lamela and Eriksen to the club and using all of the Bale money on 7 new players? We just haven't got going and the football has been so frigging dull. I'd have preferred it if we had played really well whilst still having the same number of points.

The only word I can think of to describe this season is underwhelming.

too much time is taken up with these meaningless games. The management has to plan for them, participate in them, go to places like the Norwegian Arctic, Georgia, Slovenia, Ukraine. I mean what the fcuk is the point. You can rotate all you like, but still the club has to focus on these games and that takes up valuable time and effort that would be best spent on the training ground preparing for domestic games

Re: Is our Premiership season over?

Don't get me wrong I want us to win it now but next season just don't play in it at all

Re: Is our Premiership season over?

Seasons not over. Far from it. That said its crucial that we win at Anfield

Re: Is our Premiership season over?

It has been since December.

I hope we still scrape 6th ahead of Everton so we get to be in the EL next season (providing City win the League Cup which makes 6th good enough)

Re: Is our Premiership season over?

The battle for 4th is probably over but the season isnt. I still want to see us finish above Everton and United, basically as high as we can up the table

Doom and Gloom

In 2011-2012 we had our best team in decades and were challenging for the title more than halfway into the season. In the 2 seasons since then, we've lost 7 of our best players from that side:

Modric
Bale
VDV
Parker
King
Ekotto
Kaboul (to injury)

And effectively replaced them with:

Dembele/Paulinho
Chadli/Townsend
Siggy/Holtby/Eriksen
Capoue/Bentaleb
Vertonghen
Rose/Naughton
Chiriches

Vertonghen aside, is it any wonder we're not going to finish top 4 this season? Throw in two huge-money flops in Lamela and Soldado, a first-time PL manager, playing in the ****ty Europa League every year, and the worst atmosphere at the Lane in ages, and the Harry years are starting to seem like a distant memory...

Spot on.

Disappointing today, but it's not over yet. Would we say that it's over if we had the lead Liverpool have on us right now, I'm guessing no...

i wouldn't say it was over if we had that lead over them going in to the last game of the season!
