OMT - Tottenham vs. Stoke

Enjoyed today, but going to keep my feet on the ground given it was against a very ****, not to mention suspension and injury-ridden Stoke side that were never good away from home even with Pulis at the helm. Win's a win though, so I'll take it. Seeing us score three at the Lane was a nice surprise to end the year!

Really pleased and looking forward to seeing the highlights.....we need to use this as a spingboard....

good end to the year goal wise, lets hope we can take it into the new year and the players play with free abandon and our goal tally greatly increases

Really? 2 suspensions and 2 injuries. We have 1 suspension and 6 injuries.

Lovely watch today, I think Sherwood is a much better cultural fit for this club than the previous manager, and that should ensure our home form is strong.

We played well, but as Sherwood acknowledges with our talent we should beating Stoke with injuries illness and suspensions galore. I want to see us be consistent at home and away from home - going on the sort of run we had in the second half of last season, and then I will really be on the bandwagon.

His style is also a bit more Dortmund than it is Barca, and in his conversations with Levy where he talked about 'where the game is going' I wonder if he was of the opinion that the tika taka era was moving on to a quicker tempo era and especially in the Premier League, we can't always try and control it. I always thought Klopp would suit the PL down to the ground and if Sherwood sees himself setting up the team in a sort of Emirates Marketing Project one touch/Southampton press/Dortmund wave kind of way then he should do well for us.

Top post and great analysis. \o/

More of the same please from TS. Special shout out for Pauli, who looked like a real talent for the first time for us today.

Well done everyone. Performance really cheered us all up. Great way to end 2013.

Happy New Year to one and all.

Hoping 2014 will mend a few bridges and move us on to bigger and brighter things.

COYS ... You lovely boys =D>

Really glad to see the hardworking MK1 version of Ade today. So unlike the Mk2 version against WBA, who got so needlessly offside on so many occasions. TS must have had a word.

Like chalk and cheese performances. Hope we get the Mk 1 version at OT.

The most striking difference for me today was that after missing two sitters in the first 20 mins, we actually did NOT lose confidence and ended up playing better and better as the game moved along!

I think one thing Sherwood has given them, is a sense of not being afraid and of believing in themselves enough to find a way out of it and onwards. It can be a bit helter-skelter, and in the ideal world you'd want more structure and shape to the play, but for the rest of this season it appears to be the best way forward...

MOTD2 tonight.

So Arsenals 1-0 win at Saudi Sportswashing Machine gets on before ours and Evertons matches which feature 3 goals.

Agree.

Theres going to be a lot more entertainment at WHL in 2014, and at the end of the day I think thats all a lot of us were asking for.
As I have posted before, I am not a big fan of Sherwood, but right now he appears to have given us our Tottenham back, so hats off to him.

A win in either of the next 2 games and he is going to make a lot more fans happy, win them both and Danny Boy might think twice about LVG

Spurs XI who were not involved today:

FRIEDEL; WALKER, KABOUL, VERTONGHEN, ROSE, TOWNSEND, SANDRO, HOLTBY, SIGURDSSON, DEFOE, KANE.

How poor were Stoke? Maybe the worst away performance I have seen in years. Although in saying that they got 0-0 and 1-1 draws in the last 2 seasons and I reckon they had about 4 shots on goals combined across all 3 games. They do play out from the back a lot more this year but would really be very little loss to PL if they were relegated particularly with ****y fans getting upset about not getting a throw-in and calling the assistant a 'cheat' as a result!

Thought from us it was the best home performance of the season as contained a healthy mix of endeavour and tempo coupled with controlled possession. Our biggest home PL win since Feb 2012 but as much as we would have liked to have pushed on in last 20 and tried to score more it was probably a better idea to take foot off gas in prep for Wednesday game.

Ok I've landed now.. A really fantastic result and performance. Despite a couple of lulls in performance precision about midway through the first half and towards the end we were by and large excellent.

Special mentions to Moussa, Aaron, Pauly and Ade. Lennon was our brightest player all game and some of the stick he received in this thread is bewildering.

PLEASE SHOOT MORE DEMBELE!! I BEG, NAY I DEMAND IT OF YOU... Should be a constant goal threat.

A motivated Ade is a scary prospect, looks intimidatingly strong and fairly selfless in host play. Thought his berating of Lamela was a bit OTT. Paulinho had his best game of the season, makes you wish AVB saw sense and rested the boy.

Charlie Adam is the c untiest of c unts.

TT's interviews still make me cringe.. Can't have it all I guess.

COYS!

I just wanna know what you mean by this? It seems we do have a structure and shape, its just not that rigid at the moment and thats understandable due to the length that TS has been in the role for. It does seem a bit helter skelter but I think that will be fine tuned as time goes on.

F-me! Just seen the highlights - GREAT PERFORMAMCE from TS and the lads!\o/

Baby steps, and it was 'only Stoke' but a 3-gaol home win is a 3-goal home win!
Lovely movement,
Ade and Soldado linking and playing for each other,
Front six attacking and showing great movement,
Dembele shooting AND scoring,
lots of goalscoring appotunities.
What's not to like!!

Well done TS=D>

Bring on Old Trafford?8-[
