*******TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR VS Saudi Sportswashing Machine OMT**********************

I kick the dog, but we have a new dog because the last one died and this one looks like he might kick me back, so now i go for a 30 mile cycle ride before my sunday roast. Keep up the good fight.

If you kick him Chich, and he bites you, I say good for him. Don't kick your ****ing dog mate!

Sorry but today WASNT a one off. Our problems are stemming from the selection and tactics.

We start slowly. This has been a constant of AVB's management. He insists on plays TWO deep lying Midfielders even against the lesser teams at home. This leaves us with just 4 attackers against teams playing 9 or more behind the ball. Is it any wonder we struggle for goals?

We only need one of either Sanro or Capoue to protect the back four. This enables another creative attacking player to be deployed. Dembele and Pauli have both been poor in recent games and need a period on the sidelines.

No width. Townsend and Sig always cut in and make us too narrow. Walker sometimes overlaps but no one and I stress no one gets to the byline and delivers pulled back crosses to enable Soldado a chance to play to his strengths. We never seem to have any flexibility or fluidity that comes with players switching flanks for example.

Going 4-4-2 with 2 little uns is clearly a mistake. Why AVB did it today when we were clearly having our best period and dominating midfield was mystifying. Also, why Lamela played no part today after his performance in midweek and when we needed a bit of inspiration was incredulous to me.

AVB. People say he is a great manager, great tactician and learns quickly. I have seen no evidence of any of this. Just the same old tactics, stubborn rigid system and turgid football. He really needs to start delivering better and soon. Look at the impact Laudrup, Pochetino and Rodgers have had in relatively short order. Yes we have lost some quality players ( but so have the Arsnl) and it hasn't damaged them too much has it?

Last season we relied on Bale and this season we rely on penalties. I wonder what we're going to be relying on next season to cover up the performances?

LOL...

I'm going to ignore the previous 31-odd pages (I read that someone said we should part company with AVB, so if that's the level of comment here today then it's clearly not worth wading through the 'emotions')…

The first wobble (for me) was seeing Brad in goal. How much more are we going to have to pay for last weekend's incident re: Lloris. Did Lukaku miss two games after he was sparked out? I genuinely cannot remember, partially because there simply wasn't the fuss made in the press.

Many here went on about 'not playing Sandro' today, and they got their wish. For me, Sandro is absolutely in the side week in, week out. One of Moussa and Paulinho can sit. I think Paulinho needs a break myself, he looked very tired today and was part of the keystone coppery which cost us the goal. Moussa was obviously a major part of that, and as for Brad, well, let's just say that Lloris has been taking care of that sort of situation for the last year.

I thought Soldado had a couple of great opportunities today, the free header first-half needed to be on target, and I was alarmed that Eriksen didn't score when it was harder not to, ditto Younes.

I was disappointed when AVB brought Defoe on, as I felt Lamela was absolutely the man to unlock today and would've had some good action.

Finally, I think Andros needs a rest. This was his least effective performance of the season.

Unfortunate result in terms of a second-half which was absolutely dominant IMO...

The benefit and reason to play sandro (or Capoue) is that it means we have potential for 7 men attacking!!!

The first half system today meant we have at best 4 as te holding two wouldn't leave the centre circle and didn't give anyone a base to work from

Sandro made that difference as the team have confidence that he will do his job so they can do there's!!!!

Footballs not complicated, it's made so by pundits and coache trying complex systems with players that are instinctive and actually not quite intelligent

I have to see this. Where?

As small as your desire to read this thread is my desire to re-read the parts I have already read is even smaller.

I'm reasonably confident you will find the opinion repeated in other threads this week. Vocal minorities tend to be more than willing to repeat their opinions.

I'm sorry to say this but I think we should part with AVB now while we still have a chance to achieve something. I don't see any signs of improvement from last season or from the start of this season. We're not moving forward.

He is one of those managers who over thinks what is a very simple game. The team are too tactical and too organised with no room for freedom of thought. We play with the hand break on every game and never look like scoring.

Most managers in the league would kill to have the squad he has and many of them would have us playing a lot better

If you're 'sorry to say it' then why say it?

If I could, I'd sticky this post. Honestly, it is the sort of post that makes me laugh and grimace at the same time.

OK then, WHO comes in?

Good GHod...

This.

Yep let's fire Avb after investing £120M in players for him.

He will had to learn and I'm sure he will. He will have to be less stubborn about formations.... I'm not sure he will be but we'd be crazy to offload him at the moment IMO

I think the painful and mentally exhausting experience of watching us vainly trying to join the dots today must have caught up with me. I nodded off and missed the Man Utd goal.

No doubt AVB will say Krul had an excellent game today and we were unlucky, but he's just the latest in a depressingly long line of keepers who have come here and appeared to play a blinder, and then when you look at the saves they've had to make, they've barely had to move their feet.

To say this team is frustrating really is an understatement.

AVB isnt a genius you know...I mean even Pochetino at Southampton has managed to get the SCBC into the top 4 after 11 games, and he cant even speak english

im not saying we should get rid of AVB, but is he our only hope of putting together a winning team that can play attractive football at the same time?

I really don't think firing AVB is remotely an option at the moment. I am a great believer in continuity and believe that he should get a full season with his players before we judge him. He can and must do way much better though.

Funny thing is, if Soldado puts his header in, if Eriksen does the easy thing and scores and if Younes bundles that sitter over the line, 3-1 and I'll bet we see a cavalcade of comments about how AVB's 'attacking attitude' is 'what was needed' blah blah blah…

I would've done a few things differently today, but no-one can deny we had possession and we had chances…

By the way, to the geniuses who want to sack AVB, we are a point behind Chelsea and 5 points off the top. We haven't played especially well going forwards yet. We're above Emirates Marketing Project, who keep on losing the sort of games which would have people here suffering conniption fits…

But don't worry, I know some will have written this off as some 'happy pill don't-give-a-****-about-Spurs' rant…how sad it has to be like that…

+1.

Understatement of the season contender.

No no, the last few weeks apparently we haven't created anything and the manager is inflexible when it comes to deploying a different system. Today he went 4-4-2 and he didn't do it at the 'correct time' or with the 'correct players' for our genius CM Manager playing geniuses. Look, I would've done it differently myself, there again I'm not someone who clamours for 4-4-2. I'd have put Kane on instead of Defoe today, but he could've easily got pilloried for doing that. Some people are just going to hammer the bloke regardless, and that appears to be the way it is...

AVB didnt go 442....Defoe came on and immediately took up Siggys position. Defoe was sent on to play the wide left attacker role, and he did it for about 10 mins and then Defoe being Defoe decided to be a striker
