*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Hull City, Sunday 27th October***

What a silly thing to say.

Probably no dafter than the rest of the **** being spouted on here.

We've lost 2 league games so far this season and sit in 4th place. What is everyone expecting, that we win every game 6-0. Oposition have to be given some credit for closing us down and stiffling any creativity we may have. To counter that we've become a more patient team in the build up and WE HAVE BEEN WINNING.

The frustration comes from seeing no improvement under his tenure since last season kicked off. We struggle to create and score. Badly. Now its coming to a head unfortunately. We've spent literally hundreds of millions and not one new signing is having any sort of impact. Why is that?

Lowest common denominator would seem to suggest it's us. The fans. And AVB thinks the same!

really???? easy to say that whilst sitting behind a keyboard in your own home

try going to games week in week out, forking out thousands in the process, and then you might have a right to judge those who do just that

if I lived anywhere near, then I'd be going like I have numerous times in the past. It is easy to say, I watch Spurs every week, you can HEAR it on the TV, the support is ****ing dog**** and has been for a while, the year after CL is when it started deteriorating to what it is today.

I'm conflicted on the comments. I agree that the fans at WHL have been awful for a while now, 90% turn up and sit in silence, it's one of the things that is putting me off from going to the games as much as I used to. On the otherhand though, fans go to be entertained as well and what AVB is serving up sure as hell isn't entertainment, it's absolute garbage. Millions of pounds spent on these highly talented players and at best you'd describe our football as "functional", ideally fans would be proactive but unfortunately most are reactive and right now there's nothing on the pitch to react about.

Soldado have converted all our pens so far. Would you have bet on Defoe or Ade doing that?

Paulinho has probably been our best midfielder so far. Lamela's chances have been restricted because other have been playing well, but his time will come.

The amount of negative dross you serve up, how do find time to pay attention to the game?

Ok we know it's not attractive in the last few home games but think back to that Norwich game. We were terrific. First half v Chelsea too. It's since then. Before that we had been utterly dominant without getting the goals we deserved.

If we play Eriksen and Holtby in the same midfield, the only way that we'd get away with it would be to have Sandro or Dembele in the sitting role. We would need to use true wingers, as I would want our full backs to be a bit more conservative with their attacking plays. So I'd say Townsend and Lennon, plus using the pair of those would enable us to have quick breaks if Eriksen and Holtby can move the ball to them quickly. I can see that line-up working against smaller sides where clever passes are required.

How can Barcelona get away with playing without wingers? Because they dominate. If our wide players can actually pass the ball we'll be much better at controlling the game. I dont see th epoint in wingers unless we're playing on the counter or have someone like Drogba in the middle.

We have signed some very good players, who impressed in early appearance(s).

They then got into bad habits of passing backwards, calling for ball while static, generally poor passing , over-complicating forward 'progress'.

Why was Vertonghen left back ? Why was he trying to play as Bale-type flying winger?

Why has Walker lost his pace ?

WTF is going on? At the moment I hold AVB responsible for a naff run. Our 3rd 1-0 win with a fortunate penalty.

Oh yes - I remember beating Hull in our last (final) spell in 2nd division where we took 28 corners before we scored. At least we were running them ragged.

I also remember many performances like today, but they were with indifferent payers that no-one else would sign. Bad signings .... bad coaching .... or both.

I just hope we get our act together, and SOOOOON !

The atmosphere has been getting worse for years, it is not something that started when AVB became manager.

Norwich played a 442 and Eriksen got a load of space between their lines of 4.
Chelsea had Mikel playing first half ;)

We are several steps below Barca.

It is highly amusing, pretty much all of our new signings have had an impact, just not the one armchair seems to want.

We've set up on a solid defensive base, that's how we will operate. In the long term, which would people enjoy more? Actually competing for league and cup competitions or going out in a blaze of 'entertaining' glory?

haha its nice to know my contribution is appreciated ;)

But if you think the new players have got off to good starts at Spurs fair enough. I really hope that there is an improvement around the corner but I think this is as good as its going to get. There just haven't been any signs of life since AVB took over. We'll see.

We've had a pretty easy start to the season and have done very well points wise. Maybe im being overly critical: once we start playing against the Liverpools and Evertons etc we'll see where we are - teams that will come the Lane and attack. Because then we wont have the parking the bus excuse, will we?

I think AVB can count his blessings for the EL, because if we hadn't had the chance to dish out some pastings to europes little lads we would have basically had no goals to cheer. Its definitely effecting people's perceptions of our start to the season, especially when people start quoting stats that we have scored 28 goals

And why is our defensive record so good? because it hasn't been tested maybe? You cant have it both ways and say teams are parking the bus, and then say we have a great defensive record. The latter is a product of the former.

Yep its not pretty at the moment but you dont get extra points for winning in an entertaining style, its PL footie not Strictly Come Dancing

Onwards and upwards, we have too many talented players not for us to really start clicking

I agree with AVB about WHL being negative though, but its Spurs, we love a whinge

Ultimately it doesnt matter if the atmosphere is ****e the team should be able to deal with it.
United had no problems winning all around them with their atmosphere.

He's trying to deflect attention in a Redknapp type way.

Townsend has been fantastic for sure, but I do think we suffer with this head down individual style in the side.i think a lot of players suffer from wanna be Bale syndrome where they want to be the next hero. It's important we get back to enjoying our football as we were early season at the Lane.

Well I'd say it was steadily decllining and then fell of a cliff since AVB took over. Exciting football will always result in a better atmosphere.
