The Goon Thread

Arsenal really don't need Ozil; the irony being that he is the type of player that WE need (unless Eriksen lives up to his rep..)

Still shows that Arsenal's transfer strategy is still a joke, today's result notwithstanding.

Imagine if Arsenal bought Capoue or had bought Vertonghen last year..

To all those who think Ozil wont make the scum stronger.....think again. He will be the best player by far in their squad and they stuffed us yesterday with a half fit team.

I still think that we've done better in the transfer market overall...but...Ozil is a fantastic signing for Arsenal. Gutted that he's joined them as he's one of the players that I'd have liked to have joined us, now I'm going to have to hate him.

Damn, this deadline day is turning out bad for us. Sign someone, Daniel. That 50 million Joe Lewis promised you is still sitting largely untouched, if the assertions on this forum are to be believed.

Otherwise, despite my optimism, I have a gut feeling that an Ozil-inspired Arsenal and a solid-looking Liverpool will overtake us in the race for fourth, especially when Liverpool's as-yet unsold star player Suarez returns from suspension.

I'm sorry, but:

Giroud
Ozil - Cazorla - Walcott
Arteta - Wheelchair
Monreal - Verm - Koscielny - Sagna
Viviano

Subs: Sczezcny, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Ramsey, Chamberlain, Podolski, Ba

--

..is a top 4 team and could even compete at the top of the league (which lets face it, isnt the strongest collection of sides anymore). We all saw Arsenals form at the back end of last season, UNREAL. They have the squad (despite what some people like to believe) and for me there system and way of playing is much more important than a squad full of big names. You could put Ramsey in for Wheelchair or like they have with Arteta and they play the exact same way. If Carrick got injured for Man Utd they have no one who can do what he does etc.

No offence but as good as ozil is the arsenal squad is not big enough to challenge in the league and in europe. Liverfool on the other hand, without any European distractions could conceivably win the league wigh the squad they have and the way they are playing. I think we will be pushing all the way but am struggling to see us finish anywhere other than 5th as the team will take time to gel and AVB realises what his best team and formation is.

I hate that "european football distracts prem" myth.

There was a line of thought that the 50m loan was just money to pay some transfer fees upfront.

No offence but you're believing the hype of the potential of Liverpool's transfers. They're just midtable level players with foreign names just like Borini.

Too good to be true, eh? #-o

It feels odd to think that we could sign seven internationals and end up in a worse position than last year when it comes to finishing in the top four, but the beginnings of doubt are starting to creep in. Suarez is returning to a solid Liverpool side with six relatively easy fixtures in the next two months. Arsenal have signed Ozil, and for all the bluster about them needing a defender/DM, they looked great defending against us. And though we've certainly signed top-class players, will that be enough in what I think will be the most open PL season ever? I'm not sure.

We need to gel quickly. And we could do with a new left-back. The former can be addressed over the course of the next few months. The latter can only be resolved today or in January. Come on, Levy, pull one more ace out of your sleeve.

I agree. Who have they signed who would get in our team... No one that I can name. They had Sturridge who is playing well. They will have a ****ed off Freddie Mercury back I agree and they have just signed some good centr backs. But the have signed 7 players and not one would make our team IMO.

I still don get the love in for Coutinho. He is a tidy creative player but still looks ligh weigh and still hasn't competed a game for Liverpool as far as I'm aware. aspas looks quite the Hinckley but adds very little and I can even name the others

Suarez would be an upgrade on Soldado.
Sturridge would be an upgrade on Defoe.
Coutinho would be an upgrade on Chadli.
Enrique would be an upgrade on Rose.
Agger would be an upgrade on Dawson.

in my view of course.

Going like for like though we have verts and Kabul who are better than any I'd their centre backs and proven

Best keeper in the league

Options in all the holding positions (although I think there ok there with Lucas and Gerard but again have no back up)

In the creative side I'd say the Lamella is better than coutinho (just look at like for likes in Italy) Soldados is like for like with Sturrudge and is far more proven although both can be streaky. Yep Suarez is a great player but doesn't want to be there....

I rate Enrique highly and so far don rate Chadli at all

There's a huge issue that as soon as Liverpool are linked to a player their fans and pundits in the media hype the ****e of the player simply because they believe he must be good if he's been linked with Liverpool. There's a similar thing with United. Remember when Owen was trying to get a new club he was a laughing stock and then United went in for him, there was article all over the media about how he was a good buy for United. Liverpool get the exact same thing. Remember how Coates was gonna be their new centre half for the next 10 years.

Their signings this summer are so average.
Luis Alberto a kid with 7 la liga appearances for 7m
Iago Aspas a 26 year old with an attitude problem who has spend all but one season playing in the spanish lower leagues
Kolo Touré
Simon Mignolet 9m!
Mamadou Sakho 15m on a guy that couldn't get into the PSG team
