Tom Ince

Cardiff would have been a good move for Ince. No real pressure. He is obviously gonna make a good living from the game but he ain't ready for Spurs and I doubt that Liverpool want to spend £8 mill on him.

I can actually see this happening.

Logic being that Andros Townsend tells AVB he either wants regular first-team football or he wants to leave with the world cup coming up this season. He knows a repeat of his QPR performances from last season could get him on the plane, but not if he's on our bench watching Lennon, Bale/his replacement & Chadli.

So AVB now has to think about selling Townsend as he can't give him the guarantees he wants and look for another young winger that might be ready for the odd first-team appearance to cover but will also be happy not being a first-team regular.

then Ince wont be joining......he left Liverpool to play regular football. He is a very confident individual and is very careful about the next move he makes. If he gets a sniff that he will only be making the odd first team appearance at Spurs then im pretty sure he wont be signing for us.

its better for England and the players themselves that the likes of Ince and Townsend are playing week in week out. Both are very talented in their own ways and very exciting to watch too

He could be the next Willian (he's not mind) but I'd rather give Townsend a shot than bring in someone who's got around the same upside.

same upside in a sense that they are young, but there is a difference in how they play....Ince has more vision and is more of a team player, Townsend is more direct and explosive. Both could easily play in the same team

Will be super tinkled if we sell Townsend. Just fudging sell our academy while you're at it eh Andre.

an academy which provides players to sell on at good prices is worth it's weight in gold, although i agree with the sentiment of replacing Townsend with Ince - wouldn't be happy with that one bit. however im sure it'd be to make way for Lamela ;)

Some of the brick on here is hilarious ... After reading some posts, people go on like Townsend is the next Messi.

Manchester United have done very well out of running their academy as a separate business where they get first dibs on the graduates

I think most are annoyed because it just looks like we are about to find out if Townsend can step up and make an impact, (after developing him and getting him decent loans) and we may be shifting him on. Unless there is something going on behind the scenes we don't know about, it seems a bit odd. Especially as his sub cameos recently have been impressive.

I wouldn't mind Ince here. I suggested a season or two a go that I think he has the potential to be better than Lennon and I was then called an idiot.

Do you feel like that opinion has been justified now then?

Not yet but he does seem to keep improving. Ask me again in two seasons time and i'll answer then.

I think that there is every chance that our interest in Ince is because he is relatively cheap, has potential and regardless of whether it works out or not, we could probably sell him for a profit in a years time. Sound business.

but we've already got a good young winger that we could just keep?
