I've seen a lot of people here be selective with what they believe from the media. I've seen a lot of people be selective in all walks of life from what they believe in the media. You often see people post a media article and claim it to be a good article. What they are really meaning, is that it's an article they agree with. Good or bad doesn't come into it.

A lot of printed quotes are taken out of context. Redknapp just talks and talks and so makes it easy for the media to take sound bites. When you listen to the entire interview it often is completely different.

You're not reading it right.

When a person is attributed to have said something directly to the journo and the papers put it in quotes, you can pretty much believe it. There are examples of when it's not true but they usually end up in a retraction.

What Marca do is quote "a friend", "an anonymous source", "a Spurs insider", etc. That is not a quote, that's made up.

you're not wrong there at all - im not really sure how this discussion cropped up but i was merely pointing out to Jurgen that comparing AvB's (unproven) interest in Hooper with Redknapps much more provable interest in XY and Z didn't really make much sense.

Redknapp bought well in the market, however Im personally skeptical as to how he would have fared had Levy not been keeping him on a tight leash. but that's a debate for another day

Should you, Bale or Spurs choose to take Marca to court over the content of that article, they will be able to claim that "an unnamed source" either was present or related the info second hand. AFAIK, they can't be forced to reveal that source except in extreme circumstances.

Secondly, it's Marca. In the same way that NASA doesn't bother disputing what's written in the National Enquirer and I don't bother refuting all of Gifter's mental claims in Random, Spurs are unlikely to chase after reporters from such an irrelevant, low rent rag.

Redknapp did well at finding short term solutions to the problems in our squad. He deserves a lot of credit for that.

Overall during his time at the club I thought there were too many short term solutions and not enough long term focus with his transfers though. Whoever was in charge of bringing in Walker and Sandro deserve credit, Redknapp himself gave the credit for Sandro to the head scout, but I think he was one of the people Redknapp's brought in so he should get credit indirectly at least I suppose. But overall there were too many players "on the wrong side of 25" I think.

We've seemingly change in strategy to what we had before Redknapp where most of our first team signings are around 25 and younger. Not without exception of course, as it should be.

Personality wise, I love Jol and Redknapp although tactically they weren't always the best. My vote goes to Redknapp though just because we were so exciting to watch whilst he was in charge and he was the one guy who managed to get us in to the Champions League, where we shone so brightly for a while.

Which, in the end, has always contributed to his situations. Totally 'open' question here in the spirit of discussion. Why is it, you think, that Redknapp has never stuck around anywhere longer than 3-4 seasons bar West Ham? I personally think he often knows when the moment has come to get out. Sorry for stepping in on your dance but can I offer an answer. I was talking to a Blackpool supporting mate earlier in the week about Holloway. He thought that Olly left them at the right time because his motivational techniques were beginning to get diminishing returns.

I think that there are so many times that you can motivate someone to lift their performance. I think that this is true of Redknapp which would also explain why he has such a high turnover of players.
