Re: Racist Egyptian Must Play in Tel Aviv

What's this about the UAE visa thing? I live in the UAE so I'm intrigued.

Thfc6061 started a thread a while ago entitled apartheid Arabs I think or the content involved him talking about apartheid Arabs. He posted an article about an Israeli Jewish sportsman being denied access to the uae and how this showed their anti semitism.

I pointed out that the visa thing was for all Israelis (including the 20% who are non Jewish and Muslim/ Christian/ druze/ bedouin) and that Jews coming in with a non Israeli passport can get visas same as everyone else.

That was it I think.

Re: Racist Egyptian Must Play in Tel Aviv

yep definitely racist ](*,)

We know where you stand with this but why is it still in the football section?

Because there's no football in random.

If you can provide evidence of a non-racist reason this arsehair refused to shake the hands of an Israeli team's players then I'll also change the thread title.

I don't seem to recall you taking a similar stance to defend Roma fans when their behaviour was discussed in this forum - any reason for that?

I don't remember posting in that thread? can you link me to it.

can you provide evidence that he didn't shake hands other then the Jerusalem post?

Could be due to the events of 48, 4 subsequent wars in the past 65 years and the continued subjugation of the Palestinians?

Or could just be racism. His name's Mohammed so he's probably a crazy, religious nut right scara? ;)

You didn't, that was my point. There was a reasonably long thread about racism in football and you didn't complain about it being in this forum. Why does this one bother you so much?

can you provide evidence that he didn't shake hands other then the Jerusalem post?

Why would I need to? So far there is a piece of evidence and unless something more reliable contradicts it then it's the most likely thing to be true.

I genuinely don't even remember the Roma thread tbh.

The evidence? what evidence? the article from the Jerusalem Post with no quotes, no Israeli players saying anything to back it up? nothing?

Re: Racist Egyptian Must Play in Tel Aviv

OH MY GHod....Ronaldo is racist

Ronaldo poses with Palestinian sympathisers.
Palestinian supporters claim Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo publicly endorsed their cause by refusing to swap shirts with Israeli players during Friday's World Cup qualifier in Tel Aviv.

After the match Ronaldo walked straight off the pitch rather than exchange his shirt for an opposition player's, a ritual which is common in international football. He appeared to chat briefly to one Israeli player, before walking away.

However it is unclear whether this was a deliberate snub from the world's most expensive player, who appeared angry and frustrated throughout the match.

In the build-up to the game, Ronaldo posted a picture of himself and his teammates in Tel Aviv on his Facebook page, describing it as a "great morning". The comment drew a torrent of protest from Palestinians.

Despite the ambiguity, those who support an independent Palestine were quick to hail Ronaldo's actions after the final whistle on Friday. A video of the alleged snub was posted on YouTube, attracting dozens of messages of support.

One message read "Respect for ronaldo. A real Human!" Another user wrote "zionist scum deserve it... 2 thumbs Ronaldo".

Ronaldo reaffirming his support for an independent Palestine at an event.
Ronaldo has expressed support for Palestine several times in the past. The former Manchester United winger previously donated a part of his earnings to charities dedicated to building schools in Gaza.

Last November, Real Madrid's official Arabic website posted news of Ronaldo donating £1.2 million to Palestinian children. The 28-year-old gave away his Golden Boot award to the Real Madrid foundation, which later put it up for auction to raise money for building schools in Palestine.

During his time at Manchester United, Ronaldo was spotted sporting the keffiyeh, an item of headgear which rose in prominence in the Arab world in the 1960s with the beginning of the Palestinian resistance movement and its adoption by Palestinian politician Yasser Arafat.

Ah right. Well better add the other nations that don't allow Israeli passports to the list of anti-semitists then. At least the UAE allows Israeli's to transit.

Also:

Dec 2010 - An Israeli swimming team attended the 10th FINA World Short Course Swimming Championship held from 15-19 December 2010 at the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Complex, and the Israeli flag was displayed. A TV crew from Israel, and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Israeli representative Alex Giladi, also apparently attended. News reports said there were some last minute delays before UAE visas were issued to the Israelis.

Isn't refusing to have anything to do with a team from that country sort of tarring everyone with the same brush? Which is, as I understand it, why racism is so wrong. How does he know the political opinions of players just because of the country of their birth or the team they play for?

Or could just be racism. His name's Mohammed so he's probably a crazy, religious nut right scara? ;)

Almost certainly. I say almost as I have a biblical name so it doesn't always work that way. I have met quite a few Mohammed's though and every single one of them was religious so he probably is.

If he is inflicted with religion, then yes I fully expect logic and reason to be outside of his grasp.

This is just disgusting..disgusting i tell you.

There's a big difference between supporting Palestine and trying to pretend Israel doesn't exist and you know it. As your linked articles says, "It is unclear....." If it is clear then what he did was wrong and stupid at best, probably far worse.

So the player pretended Israel does not exist?

Re: Racist Egyptian Must Play in Tel Aviv

So the player pretended Israel does not exist?

I assume that's the reason behind playing against all teams other than those from Israel.

Either that or he's saying that teams from Israel are less valid than others. And by not shaking hands maybe he's not recognising its inhabitants as proper people.

Re: Racist Egyptian Must Play in Tel Aviv

but he played against them? tbh it seems you're trying to pedal your own personal agenda. Your assumption is just that..an assumption.

The kid played against an Israeli team and his team won (this is fact). The JERUSALEM POST then has an article that states he didn't shake hands and doesn't want to play in Israel, no quotes, no evidence, nothing. You think FC basle would leak this sort of confidential information (the fact that he asked to not play the return leg) to the Jerusalem Post. Listen it's whatever you choose to believe..personally...i'm still disgusted with Ronaldo being a racist. What a bigot, refusing to swap shirts with Israeli footballers.
