Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

If he was removed it must have been quite a while ago. Hasn't it been Walker and Verts since the launch of the new kit. Would have looked pretty whack to have Bale both as background and banner..

I actually agree with you, and I think that the initial "Bale has been removed" rumour was a lie. It's one of those things where nobody will have paid proper attention to who was actually on a banner, so as soon as somebody says that we've removed Bale, everyone looks and notices he's not there, assuming that he used to be.

The Facebook banner changed from Bale to Vertonghen yesterday...

I think that made a lot of folks a bit jumpy (probably just standard banner rotation, but the timing did freak out some people).

Re: Gareth Bale

The only way to get off this ride is to qualify for the CL every season. Our best chance of doing that next season is to keep Bale for now - at least that way, if we sell him next summer, we'll still get good cash for him and we'd also have something to offer targets.

I agree, but even so, look at the perennial CL qualifier Arsenal, who have still lost their best players for several years running.

Re: Gareth Bale

But we both know, if (and I know we're not) we were both in for Suarez now, he'd go there rather than come to us.

Re: Gareth Bale

If we sell, I really don't see how we'll spend they money successfully simply because its all very well offering a club £30m for someone who is only worth £20m but you then have to convince the player that its the right move.

We wont offer stupid wages so aren't able to convince players with money, so we have to therefore be a step up for them. And I'm sure that there's that many £20m bracket players playing for clubs who would view us as a step up....and then there's even fewer who are in positions which we actually need

I'd imagine that we already know a lot of our targets sell price and we will simply just purchase them under the guise of a statement by Levy that Lewis is backing Tottenham. So we will go for the Roma player Prankik or whatever his name is, Guarin, that Croation kid, Jackson Martinez has a 35m fee on him.. bosch!, even the Benfica players will have fees set.

I can see us going

Bang to the beat of the drum

35m Jackson Martinez
35m Nicolas Gaitan
20m Miralem Pjanic
15m Fredy Guarin
10m Alen Halilovic

Re: Gareth Bale

Just to add, I think this wages thing is a bit of a myth.. I honestly think that having recently seen such player as Negrado and Soldado and there current wages I honestly think a lot of these players would welcome 70 or 80k

Re: Gareth Bale

Jackson Martinez for 35 mill....id have some of that

id go for ...

Martinez 35 mill
Griezmann 21 mill
Pjanic 20 mill

sell Bale for 125 mill.....49 mill left in the bank. Should pay for one of the stands in the new stadium. The Gareth Bale stand :)

Re: Gareth Bale

What about Kaka? I'd take him as part of the deal. There is s still a great player in there somewhere.

No way.

If we sell Bale, we'll replace him directly with someone like Lamela and maybe get Coentrao in in the deal, but that will be it.

Remember we've already spent £50m this summer (including Soldado). So that would balance the books and leave us with five new first team players (for one out).

Overhauling the squad to the extent you suggest would be pretty damaging IMO.

Re: Gareth Bale

am glad you see this. It does sound like theory from a guy with no more than rumours to make final conclusions. They are plausible though but from my experience with pro players. and i know alot of them believe me, it doesnt fit with what the real world is like from my perspective. Thats why when i hear "he'll never engineer a move" or "we will never sell because levy HINTED that we wouldnt" or "he loves the club so he will stay in one more season" or "he should stay here for his development" ....i am like ....."WHAT!!?? Is Mass Hypnosis THAT strong that people dont see that a VAST majority of the time non of this matters when money and career and prestige are involved? wow"

like i said , i am surprised with you on this kind of stuff as i know you know pro players as well.

Whatever Affy...I'm getting tired of the cynicism. I'm going to stop saying anything OTHER than opinion. Let me say, there are people at far, far higher pay grades than mine who have been blown away by the shift of attitude from the Bale camp in the last 3 weeks. if you always knew it was coming I would suggest you are perhaps in the wrong profession and should apply for a gig as advisor to the chairman and management.

p.s. you said the VAST MAJORITY...trust me (which you don't, whatever, enjoy!0 this was the EXTREME MINOR. i am sad not about any of this petty flimflam, but about watching a young man get his soul turned by a ruthless bunch of cut-throat arseholes...such a shame...

All very good points but i think 2 players are needed if Bale leaves (including Soldado). Lets not forget we're going to be selling a few squad players too.

You can't pass things as fact and then get "tired of the cynicism" when it looks like you might be wrong. Of course you're going to get called up on one of your countless posts if what you say turns out to be wrong.

i like you Steff, but you do go OTT and become melodramatic :)

Re: Gareth Bale

TalkSport are reporting that Bale had a meeting with AVB and told him that he definitely wants to join Madrid this summer.

That's one step away from a transfer request isn't it?

:(

EDIT: Oh, and I think it's absolutely fudging ridiculous they have had a reporter outside the training ground all day..

How the fudge do they know that Bale told AVB this? Were they eavesdropping? Did they have cameras and voice recorders in there? Were they actually at the meeting?

(I would expect Bale to have said that but only a hunch)

Re: Gareth Bale

Again it's just some rumour bolloxs from this Warren fella hanging around the club like a bad fart who has supposedly heard that talks have taken place some time in the last 3 days. Fifth hand info at best I'd reckon. It was probably from some old dear in a mobility scooter that stopped to tell him.
