OMT - Tottenham v FC Basel, EL QF 2nd Leg

You don't know the half of it. Again, don't even fudging start...I don't need your condescension or approval. Just because I don't come on here and join in the ceremonial kick-ins, it doesn't mean I don't have emotions. I wrote a fudging column about it. Did you read it? Nah...

Just leave it Steff. We know you care. Most of the rest of us do too.

Hard to fathom why you basically play your first team accept for crucial positions in the heart of your team ie keeper and CB (Gallas).
Football isn't really a game for being fair and giving games to nice guys.

Whilst Brad has always be a solid premier league keeper I find it a little hard to swallow when I see Spurs in a European quarter final with one of the best keepers in the world on the bench and a steady 41 year old between the sticks.

Agreed!

Defence not good enough, lack of conviction, no technique in the pens... And we still only went out on pens in the QF. Mixed feelings, we are close to being really good, but not quite there yet.

You need to take it less personal or it does you in man. I couldn't believe the abuse and lack of faith people showed Redknapp last year or towards the end of Jol's time at the club, and it really got to me. Now we have another coach I think could take us somewhere if we gave him time. Time Redknapp and Jol should have got but didn't. It's good to see a fellow Spurs brother keeping the faith in the Coach! If I'd been around last year, I think I'd have loved it here with you defending Harry and the boys like this and now I love it with you defending the team like this! You go Steff!

We should ask City for a refund for faulty product. All my gooner friends told be what a loser he was and I defended him but then he gives us a season like this. Hopefully he gets a bad injury and misses the rest of the season and we get some mug to take this rubbish off us. Cant believe this useless fool is one of our highest paid players.

I am so so gutted and im more annoyed at Ade for not squaring to an unmarked siggy at the end of extra time second half......

I dont understand those who are not bothered at losing this - hurts like hell how can any1 not be bothered???????? no trophy this season!!!!

I am proud of most of the players we made them work for it! we showed courage and never gave up - AVB showed class in his interview I hope he remains for years to come!!!!!!

fans who are not bothered about losing this game can hardly blame our players for not having a winning mentality!!!!

Lay off Holtby as well peeps - its hard to come in January he will get better next season with a pre-season behind him - Carrol looks a decent prospect and I dont understand what Hudd did wrong - feckin assist and then had to play at CB!!!!!!!

Some people need to open a frickin dictionary and look up the meaning of the word.....supporter!!!!

Great effort and I think it shows how well we have done this year getting results with a squad that isn't that great, and isn't really suited to how the manager wants to play. So performances have been inconsistent as we search for some sort of rhythm, and I don't think we will see it until next season when we can shape the squad how AVB needs it to be.

Carroll is in an unlucky position, really he's the perfect type of player for how AVB wants to play, but he's got influential players ahead of him and therefore the squad isn't really set up to have him as the focal point. Hopefully next season he will be trusted more. Him and Holtby with their incisive passes in the middle is what we need. More of that type to compliment the runners.

To get so close with Defoe, Sandro, Bale, Lennon all out is a great effort. We're a team in transition too, and I think we are on the right track.

Another very fair point.

Love the angry duo who have now fudged off to the shadows having taken a virtual swing. Classy heroes the pair of you. Proud to 'know' you. tossers...and yeah if someone wants to report, go the fudge ahead, I'll take it. We list a QF on a gutsy shoot-out and still people have to take personal swings. BTW, I will now claim MY impunity due to this being an 'emotional OMT reaction'...FFS...

First post in over a month steff. Please don't let these plastic fans get you down..i suspect if we ever finished below 6th place they vanish and go and *troll* another teams forum.

Too many johnny come lately's on this board...and if anyone wants to have a poke at me..yeah you can fudge right off..

Tottenham manager Andre Villas Boas told ITV: "My first thoughts are for the players, they set a great example for the country. The way they approached the competition, playing every Thursday and Sunday.

"They showed the country it is possible to approach it in a different way. I will cherish this and so should the players, we made the country feel different about the competition.

"It has seen most of the English teams change their approach to the competition and that now it means a lot. We set the standard for the future, next time we will go better as it could not have gone worse tonight."

I think now that we've digested the game, it becomes a bit more frustrating. We made them look like world beaters in the first leg.

The truth is we've gone out to a team we should comfortably be beating. I think the Gallas Friedel combo in the first leg was a killer, unfit Lennon, complacent, clueless performance. I think tonight was a truer reflection of where Basel are as a team.

Watch Chelsea beat them 6-0 over two legs.

Slightly embarrassing to have gone out of Europe to a Swiss team. Not the way to start building our clubs reputation. Hate to say it but I think the players thought the first leg would be a stroll.

On a more positive note: how fudging good was Walker tonight? The bloke who looked like a cross between Walcott and Messi in the first leg barely got a kick apart from when Dembele (who was absolutely atrocious) played him in. Walker is a vital component of our team.

At least AVB's been given a chance to thoroughly examine the squad's strengths and weaknesses as a result of this EL run. We need a left-back: that is clear enough to see. We need a ball-playing midfielder: the change when Hudd came on was tremendous. We need a sweeper-keeper replacement for Lloris, to enable us to keep playing the high line. We need a striker: my GHod, how we need a striker. And finally, we need cover for Bale and Lennon.

We also got plenty of experience playing in Europe as well.

Again, thanks. Nothing wrong with disagreement but when you get trolled having said nothing, it's a fuming wind-up...

Im guessing this is just me but will avb be here next season after that interview he gave probably me being paranoid hope jose stays at madrid

No offence, but that realy did put a much needed smile on my face after the gutting (but totally predictable outcome of tonights game). I doff my cap to you sir for one of the greatest attempted put downs in forum history.

"I wrote a fudging column "

Post of the year.
