Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

He'll never win with Spurs fans.

That penalty miss is the end of him here now. He worked extremely hard but people will look past that because he didn't score today and he missed a penalty. It wouldn't surprise me if the macaronic fans booed him against City.

so he missed a penalty, so what.. plenty of better players done that. He actually played ok this game overall, was isolated when down to 10 but kept running, trying to win corners etc. As usual ppl will focus on the penalty, and ade will be the fall guy rather then verts for a stupid tackle which cost us more. Always going to be a tough game without our 3 best players sandro/lennon and bale (4 if u include Lloris)

This. Anyone moaning about the miss has to acknowledge the work he put in for the team today. He was immense bar the penalty miss

It was a terrible penalty, no more, no less. But it just about sums him up this season. He hasn't been anywhere near good enough.

Surely you can understand people being frustrated having just been knocked out of a cup we had a good chance of winning?

of course - im frustrated with the penalty myself, it was brick - doesn't sum anyone or anything up though.

Please don't tempt fate!

The penalty was utterly abysmal, but penalties by their nature focus the anger on the taker. I was considerably more angry at his break-away in the dying seconds of the extra 30. He had Sig in support on the left, in acres of space, and Dempsey steaming up on the right. It could have been a 3 on 3 situation given all three defenders were bunching up on him. Sig was bellowing for the ball so loudly I could hear it over the crowd.

He kept going, was dispossessed and the one chance we had in the entire last 30 to win the game vanished.

I knew Adebayor would miss the target. I think he worked hard but his biggest failure is that he's too much in his head. If he has to think about a chance, he'll miss. The goals that he's scoring right now are those in which he can only connect with the ball in one way, whether a toe poke or flick, and so he connects and scores. I think he needs to learn to relax, think less and his game will come back,

All of you having a dig at him after that performance and effort are embarrassing 'fans'. Pathetic to be honest.

His penalty was beyond brick but fudge me, he worked his gonad*s off

Poor game from him today but a lone striker role isn't his game. He is a two up top man, and he did work very hard. People have to realise that while Defoe is definitely injured he is the best we have so rather than having digs let's get behind him!

So you think he's been good this season?

no what im saying is an isolated penalty in a high pressure situation doesn't sum anyone up - whether he's been brick or not he had the balls to stand up and take it and people digging him out as opposed to digging the penalty itself out - isn't on, imv. play the ball, not the man etc etc

Immense?! I'm no Ade-basher, but I thought he was poor at best today in the 90 minutes. No goal threat, no creativity, inconsistent touch and hold-up play...

People are behind him but that doesn't mean we have to pretend he's playing well when he isn't. It's a major issue we need to address in the summer. I can't see us getting top 4 next season unless we sign a striker or two.

brick penalty, decent performance. I think his recent performance have been a bit overpraised because of how comparably useless he's been for the rest of the season, kind of similar to Bentley when he got a run of games in 09/10. I think the penalty miss will bring him back to square one unfortunately.
