*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool OMT ***

Ok so let me try to understand what is going on here - you lot were not expecting us to lose a game again, ever? And since we lost this particular game the season is now all but over? Livermore needs to be taken out back and shot dead, Walker is the worst player to ever wear the shirt and not getting three points at Anfield is completely UNACCEPTABLE?

To concede two goals like that - gifts - is hard to take.

3 things learnt:

1. As a team we need to focus better and mature - to kill the game off and not play hospital balls
2. Our squad can't quite cover this many high class fixtures. Close but not quite.
3. A bit more cunning and we could have antagonised that cu1t Surez subtly and got him sent off. He was ready to fly off the handle all game.

Can take encouragement from how we played though. Especially after Inter midweek. Fine margins means this is a gutting loss.

Chance to go 10 points clear of Arsenal
Chance to go 5 points clear of Chelsea
Chance to go 2 points behind Emirates Marketing Project

We were there. 2-1 up away at Anfield, comfortable, bossing midfield, causing problems for there defence. Then our heads drop, Walker and Lloris fudge up, Defoe and Ekotto fudge up. Livermore was a waste of space, Parker was no doubt tired from his performance on Thursday. And we SOMEHOW throw away a fudging lead and lose 3-2.

You could say "oh it's one game" but we've seen this before. This has reminded me of the Arsenal game last season. Throw away a lead to lose. Sure we deserved to lose the Arsenal game, but look at what happened after that.

I want us to fudgeign smash Fulham next weekend, it's how you react after a loss. Well, we'll see.

The team as a whole performed adequately, individual mistakes that let to conceded goals flattered liverpool. We didn't deserve to lose this game, the manner of our loss will propel us forward. I also never want to see Parker and Livermore in midfield again.

He may be a taco but what i would give for suarez to be at spurs. We had fudge all up front again.

The most annoying thing for me, again, is the amount of times we could slide a player through on goal or pass to a player in a better position to shoot and a player decides to be greedy and go himself. Bale, Defoe and Sig all guilty today.

I cant believe any Spurs fan would want that vile piece of brick anywhere near our team. I wouldnt sink to that level. Winning isnt that important.

One of the worst and mate i have seen some dross.

Totally gifted them the win, Liverpool were not even in the game. Lloris didn't have anything to do apart from claim a couple of crosses aside from the first goal and that is what has killed us big time. Need to bounce back big time with a win next week and I think possibly a win away at Swansea might be required to ease the pressure from behind.

good summary

Not going to read back through the thread but did anyone else notice Suarez punch Dembele in the side during the match?

I think you've actually found something we can agree on.

I'd see us relegated before I cheered that **** on.

Would've preferred brick performance and a win. Not mainly good apart from two moments of brain farts - ekotto had no chance v the world diving chumpion

What f*cked us over was not having Lennon. We actually weren't too bad considering the options. Bad mistakes and I'm sorry but overly lenient refereeing didn't help.

I love BAE but he was ineffective defensively and offensively - at least Walker caused their FB trouble.

Livermore and Parker as a partnership was never going to work so I hope we won't be put into this predicament again.

Verts was immense! It was actually a phenomenal performance (excluding the goals - scored) - we really have a top top player here.

We could have actually used Ade today (drifting to the right).

Bale being doubled up on in the centre was probably helped by not having Azza - very unfortunate for us.

If we are going to loan out some of the youngsters then we do need to add more depth IMO.

We gifted them the game to them, but that happens, thou 2 in one game is hard to take. But Livermore, not knee jerking or anything, is simply not even close to being good enough for this team. We all knew it, and he proved it. Such a bizarre decision from AVB to dismantle out formation and move players out of position to accommodate him when holtby for Lennon made the most sense.

The thing that annoys me most is defoe did fudge. ALL. For us upfront,

Then gives them a fudging penalty at the other end.

Defoe is a fudging prick

Sigh. So angry, frustrated, sickened......Tiredness didn't lose us this game. Tactical errors didn't. Mentality didn't.

Complacency did. Overconfidence did. Walker's punt towards Lloris was born of over-confidence, of a confidence that he'd deal with anything that came his way. Defoe's chest-control attempt was over-confidence that he'd get it down and hoof it away, even if it meant pirouetting like a ballet dancer.

Our run made us complacent, and it led to errors.

Oddly enough, I think this a good thing. A very good thing. As long as the players now realize that we will fail if we do not maintain the concentration levels that we have maintained over the past three months. This was a wake-up call. Lloris can't be expected to save us every time, and Walker and BAE cannot get away with being as nonchalant as they were for most of this game.

If this helps the boys refocus for the final couple of months, it can only be a good thing.

Walker, you are allowed mistakes, as long as you learn from them.

Lloris is just allowed mistakes, period, given how many times he's saved us this season.

The rest of the team did well enough, no major complaints there.

Sigh. Again, this is a good thing: we needed something like this to remind us how frail we can be when we switch off, and given our knack of scoring late goals and salvaging games this season, I feel confident enough to predict that the boys will take it the right way and not let this ruin them. But did it have to be against those ****s?

It is the fact that we lost against a crowing, petty Liverpool that hurts. That and that we gave Uncle Mike some happiness. Let's try not to give him any more.
And, as an addendum, Liverpool were very, very good today. For most of the game, they made incisive passes, tried to loft balls in behind and generally looked dangerous. It was our solid defending and spells of possession that kept them down. Then, complacency crept in, and we threw it all away.
