O/T Manager Sack Watch

Lamberts trying to build something from scratch at villa, one assumes this was discussed as the plan when he took the job so you'd assume he has a plenty of support from above

its not unlike the AVB at Chelsea situation I suppose, bring a new guy in to tear it up and start again, maybe Lerner will change his mind the way Roman did

Yes, but the house of cards will all fall down without the PL money.

Villa are not a particularly flush club as it is, if they end up going down there could be something of a fire sale.

If they have mostly youth you can see a lot of interest from the lower and middle PL clubs.

Unlike the one they've already had? :)

Starting the season MON left: Milner, Shorey, Bouma, Harewood, Bradley, Friedel, Pires, Reo-Coker, L Young, A Young, Downing, Makoun, Cuellar, Collins, Heskey, Warnock, Hutton, Beye, Gardner, Carew, Salifou, Davies

Not all of them were that good and they had different reasons for leaving, but many were signed for considerable fees and left on free transfers once their contracts ended and they haven't exactly replaced them with similar quality.

That's all you need to know really. They lost a lot of quality and for the most part have counted on youth players to replace them. They were lucky to stay up last season, I thought especially second half of the season they were the worst team in the league by some distance. They have made a few decent signings like Benteke but for most part relaying on same core of players from last season.

If Lambert took the job under the assumption he wouldn't get much money to spend he was doomed to fail from the start.

Simon Grayson sacked by Huddersfield. I guess 18th place (out of 24) for a newly promoted team is just not good enough.

Notre jeu à Villa est la semaine prochaine énorme, signant avec espoir 5 joueurs que cette semaine donnera l'escouade entière une poussée massive.

Our game at Villa next week is huge, hopefully signing 5 players this week will give the whole squad a massive boost.

Out of interest, how many of them speak English?

Aston Villa - Saudi Sportswashing Machine on Tuesday. Winner keeps his job for another week?

Paul Lambert: keeping the rest of the premier league managers in work

Honestly. If a chairman comes to any other coach for bad results, the coach can legitimately say "I'm not going before Lambert".

It's kind of a limbo-like scenario. Once lambert goes the rabid football press can focus on someone they actually hate. No names

In fairness, most of your squad are massive poussées. \o/
