Zeki Fryers

Morrison was NEVER going to make it.

Pogba though just seems to be a money grabbing git tbh, he is clearly very talented after seeing him a few times for Juve. But I can't see him ever being a top player. Not in Italy anyway. I can't see him being top dog for France. But yeah, Pogba I suppose you could say is the only one.

yeah, Man Utd fans didnt really see this as a loss really. It's rare SAF gets it wrong. When was the last time they released a youngster and he went on to do better things?

Utd didn't release him.

He refused to sign the new contract that they offered him.

This is a weird signing tbh. AVB has said Rose has a big future for us next season and now this? is BAE a goner in the summer then?

Never seen him play.
Why did United let him go exactly?

Although he may not have been particularly highly rated by United fans, he is still probably seen as a decent prospect and thus is worth a punt. Rose said he would only return for regular action and that he is very settled at Sunderland as he is closer to his family while Naughton isn't the long-term answer at LB.

I think Rose might stay at Sunderland next season (loan or permenant) and we'll have Benny/Fryers and Walker/Naughton as LBs and RBs. If Fryers doesn't look good enough between now and the end of the season, Rose will return to Spurs to fight it out with Benny.

Maybe we had words with Sunderland in the end and they're willing to buy Rose for a good fee? I mean if Sunderland offered us £8m + for Rose, would you accept? I would. We'll probably never ever get anything like that for him again.

He trained with us during the summer didn't he? So AVB should know exactly how good he is, I'll take his judgement over the word of some random United fans on a forum.

Probably fairly cheap too, promising young players are always worth a punt.

I wouldn't really class this as business and I don't think he flatly denied that we'd be doing any business, I can't remember. Do you have the quote?

Weren't those just the standard pre-window comments when asked directly by the media if we would be doing business in January and he's blatantly obviously not going to answer "yes"? We've seen similar comments from Redknapp every window he was at the club.

Doesn't really matter what he said about it, nor does it matter that he said that Rose isn't going to be sold I think.

Why?

And on whose part?

because of the fact we have BAE, Rose, Naughton, Vert all capable of playing there. That's four accomplished footballers who all have Premeir League experience as well as over 70 career games to there name. Unless of course Fryers is better than both Naughton and Rose at left back. He is only 20 of course, could have a very bright future ahead of him. Just hope that next year he could get a loan out to perhaps a Prem team like some of the above names have.

Let's not forget that many Spurs fans were hugely underwhelmed by Rose before he started playing well for Sunderland.

Truth is that most fans are fairly clueless when it comes to the prospects for young players. They don't know what to look for and what to ignore.

I guess our scouts have seen something in him. And, for the price, it's a worthwhile punt.

Like I said, I think he trained with us in the summer, AVB will know exactly how good he is.

Naughton is better at right back, Vertonghen is better in the centre, Ekotto isn't the youngest anymore and Rose is still both relatively unproven and not yet good enough.

If Fryers is a good talent it's a good deal. It's not like we're panic buying some 30 year old Brazilian left back who was never good enough.
