Dempsey

I think if Dempsey can score 10 league goals this season, that will be a great achievement. That will go some way in compensating for the sale of VDV who scored 11 and 13 league goals each season when he was with us.

I agree. I believe he will outscore VDV and have more influence on the teams overall play.

I think you're right in a way. VDV at his best was magnificent, but when not at his best he'd be very detrimental to the team. Clint at his best isn't as good but he's always going to be putting the work in. Also VDV's injury problems meant that he would never have a consistent run in the team

Today was a point in case spurspinter he was not good like he had been in last few weeks, did not create anything but unlike vdv he did a lot of running and marking and i was impressed with his work rate. He needs to be more influtential in games especailly against teams that can defend better like swansea did today.

Funny, Dempsey suddenly seems to be playing well since the return of Adebayor from injury. He knows his place in the first 11 is under threat from Adebayor. So, he has no choice but to lift his game to try to keep his place. Shows you how much we need to have good squad players to make the first 11 players perform to their best.

I think this has much more to do with Adebayor playing instead of Defoe than Dempsey suddenly trying hard. I've said it before - Ade and Dempsey are perfect for each other. Would love to see Dempsey behind Ade as a loan striker. Possibly even today. Defoe will just be a massive frustration if we don't get an early goal...

Time to bump this again as I thought Dempsey did really well when he came on against Sunderland, should have had one of the assists of the season with his backheel for Ade, but it didn't work out. Several very good touches, worked hard as always.

I'm guessing he will start against Reading with Bale suspended, fully deserves it.

And to think of some of the hatred against him early on. Now he's a key player for us. We look much better with him in the hole, battling away.

This is my Dempsey perspective:

In a team with only one free spot (Adebayor's slot) considering the coach is too inflexible to ever try anything different considering the players there are so established and/or he's afraid of moving, I hope he's sold.. the sooner the better.

Would you say that you're more of a fan of Dempsey than of Tottenham? Sure seems like it...

Your criticism of AVB seems completely unfounded. Dempsey has gotten plenty of games this season. I like him and he's a good player, but if he wanted to be a guaranteed starter every game he should have stayed at Fulham or moved to a club at a similar level. Luckily I haven't seen anything from Dempsey to think that he thinks like you, he seems happy to work hard and fight for his place in the team and accepts that he won't start every game.

He says the same sort of stuff about Friedel, so he's clearly an American who's just more interested in the American players than the team. We can do without fans like that thanks. It's not like Dempsey hasn't been given a fair crack of the whip, out of 28 games this season he's played in 23 and started 18 (not forgetting he was injured for 2-3 games and wasn't with us at the start of the season). He's been given a lot more chances than Sig and Ade at the moment

yes look at Bale, Lennon, Sandro, and Dembele dying, and that Modric fella ruined his career here too. Not sure what it has to do with Dempsey mind, considering he's more of a forward then a midfielder.

Dempsey has started basically every single game he has been fit for.
