*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton ***

I think we can get a win, we are more compact and stronger through the middle i believe. It's our fullbacks where I have concern. If Gallas plays, hope he can focus for the whole game - looks like it's getting tougher for him physically.

2-1 up the Spurs !

We used to have such a great record at Everton until a few years ago. Everton was almost like home away from home for us those days that it would be always 3 points guaranteed. But things have changed since Moyes took over Everton. Now we don't have a good record there in recent years. In fact we have lost our last 2 matches there and are without a win in 5 years. The fact Jenas scored the winner the last time we won there shows you how bad our record has been there in recent years. With us being without Bale, AVB will need all his managerial skills and luck to get a result against Everton.

After winning our last 4 matches, we should be going into this match full of confidence. There is no reason whatsoever why we cannot extend the winning run as long as we have the right mentality. Defoe has been in great form this season. It seems like his goal instincts in front of goal has improved greatly under AVB. With 9 league goals already, he should be looking to get more goals. The return of Adebayor will give us good edge in attack. Just hope Adebayor won't do anything stupid like the red card against Arsenal.

Without Bale, the return of Dembele will be crucial for us. We have won all the matches Dembele has started for us, Hope Dembele will continue to give us the lucky charm. We also need Dembele's creativity to help out attacks. I think how Dembele and Sandro plays in midfield will decide how we perform in this match. Dempsey has been in good form in recent matches. The return of Adebayor might have forced Dempsey to lift his game to keep his place in first 11. Hope Dempsey will have another good match for us. Without Bale, we will need the penetrative runs of Lennon to unlock the Everton defence. A goal or two from Lennon will be of much use to us in this match.

You cannot help but worried about our defence now. Apart from Lloris and Vertonghen, the rest has become shaky and error-prone in defence. Just cannot see us keep a clean sheet in this match even with Lloris in goal. But it will be a great achievement if we do stop Everton from scoring. I think if we can stop Fellaini from scoring, we would have won half the match. Just hope Lloris will organize the defence better especially against freekicks. We cannot afford to let Fellaini free headers as he is good in headers.

We need to beat teams like Everton if we want to stay in touch with the top 3. But since we are without Bale, a draw will be an acceptable result. If we can get a win here, it will greatly boost our confidence in our battle for top 4 or even 3. Hope we will get that moral boosting win !

Tough tough game today but really hope we come away with point(s). Fingers crossed we can battle through the fatigue of a pack fortnight and keep us on a high going into Swansea Home next week. COYFS

Everybody dance now!

Feel very nervous about this match. Everton have won only 1 match in 9 but have lost only 1 in 12 matches. This is going to be a very tough match. Hope the Dembele lucky charm will give us the win somehow.

Spurs 3-1.

This Everton side are not as good as people are making out, yes they are a well drilled resilient side, however we have more quality, & are on a better run of form. The only player I would take to put in our starting XI would be Fellaini.

COYS!

They will come at us and the crowd will drive them forward, but they don't really have that much of a goal threat outside of Fellani and Jelavic. We'll counter attack them and score and come away with a 2-1 victory one each from Ade and Defoe with Parker getting 15 minutes.

COYS!

Massive test for us today, especially without our best player. We will have to show some character. I am not very confident, Everton have been drawing a lot and are due a win.

Anyway who will deal with Fellaini?

It could go either way this game. If they get the first goal, you wouldn't fancy our chances.

On the other hand, if the defense (whole team) manages to keep a clean sheet, or restrict them to one goal, you'd have to fancy our chances of scoring one or more. Sandro could nullify Felani and with/ if Ade is back in the team we have creativity and won't be predicable in attack.

Lloris

Walker- Gallas- Caulker- Vertonghen

lennon- Sandro- Dembele- Dempsey

----- ------Defoe---- Ade

With Ade drifting towards the left and Dempsey towards the center.

i feel that our ever changing defence will get punished for this one, and its just going to be about us putting in more goals at the other end. anticipating a high energy high commitment and high scoring game, and agree it will go either way.

Thinking we may see a bit more of the high line, pressing and possession football today. A glimpse into what we may be like in most matches in the future.

Reason being, as of now we adapt to each game, and I think today the best way to keep Everton nullified is to play high, push Fellaini away from our box and also stop their quick passing in and around our area. I don't see them hitting us too much on the counter or over our defence because we should have the pace to deal with it.

If we do that, I'm actually pretty confident of a result today.

Great post. Totally agree with you COYS

A real test today. Everton unbeaten in 7 at home this season and have only lost 1 in their last 18 at home.
During that run they beat City, Chelsea and United.
They have only lost 2 overall of their last 24 games, both this season at WBA and Reading.
A win would be a real feather in our cap.

Lennon needs to step up today and take some responsibility for driving the team. Everton will make it tough for him. But without Bale the team will lack some confidence. Lennon as a senior member of the team (only 25 :) should try and drive us on. He has a tendency to accept being out of the game. AVB has been biging him up and I hope Lennon can do what Bale has - seek the ball, play with confidence and take the game to Everton.

To some extend Dembele is the same. They can win the game for us today, if they have the right mentality.
