***OMT- Tottenham Hotspur vs Emirates Marketing Project*****

I replied to your last one without reading this... Oh boy. You are so clearly lonely and mildly desperate with your assertions of having loads of women yet are still single (I wonder why that is). Probably can't hold down a relationship because you have such anger problems.

Not the right thread for it but I had a relationship for 3.5 years and it didnt work and am enjoying single life at the moment.

Lonely? Yes. Happy? Yes. The only down thing in my life at this moment is spurs really.

That is why I still come on this site ! Absolute gold !

You are all idiots !

Why are Bale and Lennon not as effective in the formation AVB plays to that where we played last season?

both have been playing well this season, don't see any cause for complaint in how they are performing so far. Today they were marked out of the game and/or just had bad games themselves, it happens.

My line up would be

The same as todays

BAE
Vert in the middle with Caulker
Ade for Sig/Dempsey
Dembele for Thudd.
I would say change Walker but not sure of Naughton yet.

not quite sure what you mean here ? i asked how you would have lined up this season keeping in mind our injuries - so up until recently no Adebayor, no Ekotto and Dembele is injured as well. take those 3 out and tell me how you would line us up in the games we have played this season to get everyone playing in their preferred formation.

However you can have 10 Ronaldo's and Messi's on the pitch but if AVB tells them all to sit back that team would get hammered. that second half today seemed like we were just waiting to get beat. It was like we knew they were gonna score and it wasnt a matter of if but when. Today for example if we are just having them hammer us why not negate it by putting both Ade and Defoe and make them think about how they will negate that. They would be worried about us hitting them on the counter that would have pushed them back a bit and less pressure on us. Instead we had Dempsey who ran around a bit without contributing.

i don't think we were told to sit back by the manager at all, im not sure how you sit back whilst playing a high defensive line ;) - we were pinned back in midfield by a superior team, Dempsey had a shocker and Adebayor had no outlet when he held the ball up because Lennon and Bale were marked perfectly.

Fair enough :) Why can't you be this controlled in your spurs outbursts?

We'll turn it on, we're so close to it I can feel it. Our squad was decimated in the summer and wasn't repaired, ade made a huge difference, dembele will make a huge difference and even lloris will make a huge difference. A couple of players in January to give us depth which is crippling us at the minute and we'll easily finish 4th.

AVB will make this work!

Why did u have to be so sensible?!!! Couldn't we argue about it all evening?

I will apologise if I upset or annoyed people. At least I didn't start a thread like last season after the 5-2 gooners thread!

Ps. I've also added a similar comment in the AVB thread so please let's not have a repeat!

By the way. Had the lads round for the game. They decided to leave at 85 mins and go to pub as we all knew they would score. Turn up at pub (directly opposite my flat) 2-1. Soooooo predictable

apart from Dembele, we were full strength going forward today....Sandro, Thudd, Bale, Lennon, Siggy, Dempsey, Ade, Defoe all fit and ready.

However, that was a shocking attacking display. We offered nothing. It was hard to watch tbh. Injuries cannot be an excuse

I am gonna kill you Billy grrrrr

I dont think Bale has been that great up until recently and Lennon was brilliant early on but has kinda gone downhill lately. Theyre far less effective at present. There have been far more 'poorer' performances than good ones from them this season.

You can show no ambition by playing a high line. You can have ten Messi's (show ambition) but by telling them to hold position etc and not move away etc (theyre gonna fail as theyre strengths are to 'buzz' around the opposition). Playing a high line just meant we were more compact in the middle of the park the forwards and midfield still played very deep. We were compressed in the middle third to negate their three or five -my opinion.

You say line up I well we have had various injuries which would warrant various personnel but if Dembele is out then yeah id play Thudd. If Ade is out then yeah id play Dempsey. But where AVB had a chance to play Ade and Defoe together he didnt even for the last 20 mins. Next game? he may well try that. He may try that at home... I dont know.

Conversely if you think that our formation and tactics etc havent changed much from last year then what was the point of getting in AVB? If the main reasoning for doing so was he was a tactician? Mancini changed the tactics and formation today, AVB stayed the same. His use of subs is also pretty poor and seems fairly reactive rather than pro active. We all knew Emirates Marketing Project was gonna come out a different team so what did we do?continued to stay the same (which was poor in the first half anyways).

It's when we're under pressure that the fact we missed out on mourinho hurts the most. I feel the board could have done more to get the key targets for AVB in. Dembele was the only one I think and he makes such a difference. All of our convincing performances have come with Dembele in the team

When you are playing away from home against a top side, and your best threat is going to come through Bale and Lennon, you do not play a high line. Formation and subs aren't the big deal today. I'm no fan of big tactical reasoning, but trying to play a high line and thus squeezing the play, when your biggest asset is the pace of you wide players on the counter attack, is plain stupid. I don't see why some of our fans believe in master tacticians and so on, when a guy who has won league and European titles can do this.

Just because City didn't score by catching out our high line doesn't mean it worked. Aguero and Tevez miss controlled easy opportunities to get in behind. On a different day they'd have scored 3 or 4 in the first half, but due their own poor play, it looked like things were going our way. They weren't. We were terribly set up both to defend and attack. FFS we have Bale and Lennon, we should be encouraging City forward, not pressing them back.

Tactically this was the worst I've seen from AVB. The score line was close, but so were their games against Swansea, Ajax and West Ham. We played the least effectively of all those teams against them and it was because we neutralized our own threat. Formation, team selection, subs etc, are no where near as disappointing as playing in a way that doesn't allow our wide players to break.

Excellent post.

Tactically we were clueless today and we had many poor individual performances on top of that, including the manager who miseread the entire game to my mind. I like AVB and will give him time, but there were so many obvious problems that could have been addressed with the correct substitutions that would have changed the course of the 2nd half. I'll save me player kneejerk for the ratings thread but this has been our most disappointing performance under AVB in my opinion.

Wigans was much worse.
