OT - Chris Kirkland

There are number of factors making such trouble more likely at non-PL games. The higher ticket prices have prices have priced out some troublemakers and security at non-PL games is lower. Demand for tickets is higher in the PL, resulting in more season ticket holders, who have more to lose, and limited away support numbers. These factors would all count against Leeds (large away following, easier ticket access, lower security, etc).

However, Leeds - the football club - has had a reputation for a long-time, so I suspect such events are more likely with them. You'd have thought the stewards in Sheffield would have been more prepared, though.
 
12 point deduction and zero away allocation for the remainder of the season, please. A club fine and a ban on the individual is not nearly enough to get rid of caveman behavior like that.
 
I think it depends on what Leeds are doing to eliminate such problems and how often it happens.

I think we would be outraged if we had points deductions for an isolated incident, say had the Lampard one someone mentioned been worse. I also remember the calls to throw England out of the world cup in 1998 because of hooligans. Would that be fair to well-behaving travelling supporters or fans watching on TV?

The threat of a ban or other serious sanctions can be more useful than an actual ban. The danger of sanctions over hooliganism helped us deal with the travelling England fans problem*. Racist chants by fans tends to be self-policing now with fans reporting the offenders rather than joining in. Some threats (a suspended ban) from UEFA to nudge the Serb crowds in the right direction might be more helpful than excessive punishment now. Likewise with the Leeds fans, let them know that a repeat will penalise them all.

But Man U, Liverpool have always taken massive away support without fail, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Sunderland, Saudi Sportswashing Machine without doubt would compare well to Leeds in terms of numbers. None of these have the same extent of problems.

What happened last night though could conceivably happen in any match, a derby makes it more likely. We had the same thing at WHL a few years ago with fat Frank.

Leeds have exceptional numbers. Higher than any prem team because they get bigger allocations in the lower leagues.

Leeds have a rep, I agree. But as you point out lots o other clubs do as well. And as you say, we had the same situation a few years back.

Disproportionate. And you wouldn't advocate it if it were Spurs. A but hypocritical for me.

Ban and criminal charges are a given.

For Leeds-a fine and suspended sentences of 6pt deduction and away fan ban.
Gives the club and fans chance to provd it was 'one idiot' and get their house in order

I think the onus comes down to Leeds fans, must have got the ticket from someone.
Or, at the very least, if he gets in again someone will be sitting next to him. They can shop him in
 
Was thinking about this last night and what I found especially sad was that happened at the Leppings Lane end. The same end that used to have 8 foot metal fences to stop this sort of thing happening....

As if that "man" couldn't sink any lower in my estimation, surely every football fan who goes to Hillsborough knows what happened at that end 23 years ago? So, so disrespectful to the 96 who died.

Without opening up the whole monster issue of Hillsborough in this thread, that happened in a different era with a different agenda (keep the hooligans penned in, at all costs). But part of the deal in the aftermath, part of the reasoning behind taking the fences down was to have better stewarding and policing on the boundary. Leeds away on fridaynand you could see a gap of no stewards before Tonge scored, right behind the goal.

Yep, absolute filth. Always remember going up there after we took Graham off them and the menace, along with the racist brick we got outside the ground, was unreal.
 
Can they not trace it back to the people who got the ticket for him in the first place? Unless they got it on the black market. Ban the **** who purchased the ticket for him.

below Brighton and Sheff Wed? (who have been down in the 3rd division, and lower in the case of Brighton, a lot longer than Leeds!) And look at the clubs they're in the same ballpark as: Leicester, Cardiff, Wolves, Notts Forest, Derby County.... West Ham when they first down in 2004 had a higher average than Leeds, who'd only been down one year more. They were still getting 30k+ again after going down last year. Emirates Marketing Project, after years in the wilderness, were still getting 30k plus in the Championship when they came back up to it.

Loads of stuff comparing him to Jimmy Saville. They also sung in praise of Saville all night: "He fudges who he wants, he fudges who he wants, Jimmy Saville, he fudges who he wants!" (Saville was from Leeds).

Teams from one team towns/cities always bang on about what great support they have. Take Saudi Sportswashing Machine, if they were a London club, they'd be about the same size as Fulham.
