Hugo Lloris

Why can't he leave this season if he wants ?

Seriously Lloris need to play if he wants to keep his place in the french team, I can see him asking for a move in Jan if he does not play.

Not playing him against Carlisle is an aberation unless he plays against Man U. If not I can see him get frustrated, and I will be at his place too.

It does not mean I am a Brad hater in any way.

Lloris will do as he's told. It doesn't matter what he wants or otherwise. He will keep his mouth shut like a good little bitch or AVB will give him a slap!! :)

I'm sure this as been said before in this thread but I'm not trawling through all the pages especially seeing im on mobile! Hugo and Brad are both top keepers, but Lloris is the future and should be number 1. Time to forget sentiment with Friedel's 8 year unbroken run of pl games.

New guy starts at your company. You're great at you job but he's 10 years younger. The boss sacks you as you're old and he's the future. Happy? Nope.

If the company pay 12 millions to get him, I do not think they will really consider your feeling. :-k

And he's French as well?!! ;)

Lloris will just stfu and get on with it. The transition will happen when we decide. Not when the hysterical devious media decide. There turned this into a battle of wills now. And we won't back down. Also when he does come in ill laugh when he fudges up, as all goalies do. Then we can deflect any criticism back to the press. And it was 8 million! :)

The media love a "foreign keeper makes continued rickets at his new club" stories. Maybe he's tinkled that this stream of story is I available for him. I think AVB is doing the right thing. Anyone who thinks Lloris will not succeed Friedel in the coming months is kidding themselves.

This is going to be one settled foreign keeper when he gets a run and that can only be good - except of course for the lazy journos!

I like the AVB interview, clearly makes the reporter look like an idiot. the problem that appears to be developing here though is AVB is getting mouthy again like he was at chelsea with rumours of discontent in the dressing room (lloris, adebayor). similar to chelsea, and we all know what happened there. the way I see it though is this is a long season, there will be plenty of games for everyone and we have a huge game on saturday.

i dont think AVB should be pressured into playing Lloris, but it is an uncomfortably situation. it would be wise to give adebayor a run out on saturday if fit also, because we are clearly going to need him this season

I thought the issue with Adebayor is that he had a hamstring injury, so what is the problem

As far as I am concerned, and I am no great AVB/Lloris/Friedel lover, AVB is playing it exactly right and Lloris will be installed between the sticks as first choice within the next month or so.

That is all. COYS.

If Friedel contiinues to play well in the league I do not see that happening which is more the reason why I would have played Lloris against Carlise and in every single cup game until Friedel gets injured or is dropped due to poor form.

In hindsight would it have been a good idea to buy Lloris and leave him on loan at his former club, at least until Jan?

Crikey what's with all the panic. It's not like we have signed the best keeper in the World FFS! Just like Modric couldn't leave, neither can Lloris. Just trust that AVB will make the right decision at the right time. It's not like we're halfway through the season!

Strooth...

No, no no. He is not getting mouthy. He's slapped down a taco and most of reports I have read on it completely respected AVB's utter ownage of him. He hasn't turned the press against him with that, he's owned one little journo who was a bit mouthy in his own right. Let's not worry about that.

Friedel keeps his place. Deserved it after last week, some good saves.

So...which paper will print an anti=Spurs story tomorrow about Lloris being unhappy and seeking talksd??

What im saying is that yeah he can leave but by the time the end of season comes he will be a guaranteed first choice keeper for us as Friedel will certainly not be number 1 next season.

So yeah Lloris may feel like he wants to leave but once this season is over he has the next few years as number 1 for us - its not like Friedel will be number 1 for the next few years and Lloris has to fight his way through.

In my view if Lloris is not playing come January he will take a move (even a loan) to get some playing time. Nobody knows what are the terms of his contract so we can't really judge the situation, if and I say if he was promised a first team place and he doesn't have it I can see him getting sold without having properly played for us.

Re: Ratings against man u

The Friedel bashing is laughable, a shot at point blank is now something he should have saved tossers lol

I don't know if you are referring to me, but I can assure you I am far from a Friedel basher. I have always said he should keep his place. I didn't say it was a mistake either, but merely pointed out that a different approach would have been better in that situation. I understand that when it happens so quickly, it is not easy to get it exactly right.

Re: Ratings against man u

I'm not a Friedel basher but I think there's a fair chance that Lloris stops both of yesterday's goals.

How so? The interesting thing about statements like this is that they are impossible to test.

Out of interest, do you think that there are any saves that Freidel made that Loris wouldn't have and do you think that changing keeper could have had a detrimental effect on the defenders in front of him?

Re: Ratings against man u

The first goal I didn't think anything of at the time but then Waddle said something like "Friedel had no chance of getting anywhere near it" exactly at the same time they showed a replay from behind the goal where they showed that the ball went about an inch past his right boot, keepers often hate using their feet to block/save shots but just a twitch of his right boot would've kept it out. I'm not blaming him for it, just that a marginally quicker reaction which Lloris has may have seen it saved. As for the 2nd I think Lloris may well have spotted the danger and dashed out of his goal to shut down Kagawa before he could get a shot away.

I don't think there's any save that Friedel makes that Lloris wouldn't, I think Lloris will put himself into positions which may lead to mistakes more than Friedel though. If the ball is crossed into our area 50 times and Friedel comes for 5 of them then it's unlikely he'll make a visual error, whereas if Lloris comes for 40 he may drop 1 which leads to a goal. But over the course of those 50 crosses, Lloris coming for them will probably prevent more goals than Friedel staying rooted to his line, but on the face of it it will look as though Lloris made 1 ricket whereas Friedel made none.

I back AVB, I like his moralistic way of managing the team, it would damaging to the team morale if he just booted Friedel out for Lloris. The problem I have though is that I don't see when Lloris is going to get in as Friedel just doesn't make any errors, he's not going to have 3 or 4 games in a row of mistakes, it would've been much easier if we'd signed Lloris when we got Siggy and Vertonghen as I imagine he'd be in goal right now.
