Gareth Bale

Insults don't make your point any stronger and if anything exposes a gaping hole in the actual point you're trying to make.

I still play at a medium level and taking a step FIRST then falling is a dive in anyone books. You don't need to have Champions League experience to comprehend this rather basic concept

you havent answered the question about whether you are an attacker or defender.

I'll tell you what makes me laugh the most, there's an entire thread on a 'dive' which I, and some others, don't think was a dive, Bale is getting blasted again, yet I saw no outpouring of 'disgraceful behaviour' comments over Benny's absolutely shocking challenge on that poor lad from Wigan Di Santo. That was awful, and him avoiding a ban for that was the first break we've had in months from the men in black. I love Benny and would never say he meant to 'do' another player, but THAT sort of challenge is bang out of order IMHO and one I was unhappy to see a Spurs player doing...

I actually did bring that up a fair few times, but most either ignored it or tried to defend Benny. It was hardly above the ankle! someone proclaimed, even as the replay showed him raking his studs from his knees down to his foot.

And therein lies the crux of the problem for me. The biases that comes with this. If Adam or Henry had performed that challenge on Bale or Modric, we would rightly be up in arms about it. So there's a huge amount of hypocrisy here. You are one of the few posters who I think would have this view whether the player was on our team or on the other, cos you're an honest guy. I think a lot of people defending Bale's increasing tendency to go to ground wouldn't be so quick to defend Nani, Ronaldo, Suarez, Pires, Drogba etc by saying they go to ground to avoid being hurt.

I'm an attacker. Will drop you in 2 moves. :-"

Well who would have believed it. I thought your viewpoint must surely have been influenced by never having been on the receiving end of some cynical tackling. Best not to label our best player a cheat for taking evasive action. Maybe you want our injury list to grow even more - and would rather be proud that Bale "took it like a man". Incredible.

do you know what was said to him by Agger?

who would have believed that Zidane would do what he did?

Mick, your missing the most important part. Its not his evasive action to get out of the way, as soon as he lands he has his hands up turning to the ref looking for a foul. That happens way before agger says anything. It's fudging cheating he knew he wasnt touched. Take your blinkered glasses off.

I have jumped out of many tackles and still do today, Pirate. That is not what Bale did however - he ran, ran some more and then fell

We will just have to agree to disagree. The key is that he remains uninjured and does not succumb to some noble act of letting himself get mullered just for the satisfaction of some on here that might criticise him for taking evasive action.

BTW, he didnt "run, ran some more and then fell". If you look at the clip, Aggers right leg almost makes contact with Bale's left foot, as he takes evasive action, his left foot gives way on the ground and his momentum takes him forward. That is all. Look at it again. Goodnight!

Guys, I've read all this thread and your missing the point... All of this jumping out the way crap and trying not to get hurt crap is all fine if he doesnt look for a foul when he lands. It's what he does AFTER either a) diving b) trying to get out the way. He's looking for a fudging foul.

Still morning here - almost lunch in fact. Thinking of grabbing a pizza actaully

Bale runs normally then collapses. His left foot (which is supposedly being taken out) makes a firm step on the ground before he tumbles down in agony. Not once did he attempts to jump out

Bon apetit

[Having only read the last page] Im with Arcy here.

All this talk of evasive action has you sounding like Scousers.

Bale went down, as he so often does these days, with little or no contact.

A feather from a pigeon up in the stand could leave him rolling on the floor like his leg fell off.

It is very disappointing. I suspect bourne out of te fact teams often try to "do" him, certainly target him and make his life very difficult.

For example, Skrtl put him into the hoarding quite early on. It was a perfectly legitimate tackle - but the follow through was comletely unecessary and deliberate, even the commentary picked up on it.

I do hope Bale gets his head down and focuses on what makes him great, because the diving does really grate on me and doesnt show him in the best light.

Unless he is intent on a move to Barca?

The hoarding incident was glaringly blatant

My GHod what dirty, scummy clogger thug qunts they have at the back

Wow, 14 pages! Think this has run its course now; if people still disagree despite being able to see the clip over and over again, then it's going to stay that way. I don't know how anyone can still claim that Bale is carrying out 'evasive action'; we'll have to agree to disagree I guess!

I think we should all have one big war. a fight. Between Pro Bale and Anti Bale. I am on the Pro Bale side. Ill kick yo asses.

pro Balers will dive for cover as the anti balers launch their violent assaults

I need TP for my bunghole, buddy boy

Winner gets the chicken pieces

Ill have a bucket before the fight cos I wont know what to do with my left hand, other than to eat, whilst knocking you out with the other.
