Gareth Bale

What the xlip doesnt show is Agger thundering across the pitch at 100 miles an hour with a malevelent intent. In those circumstances t is not unreasonable to take evasive action.

Absolutely spot on! As I've been trying to point out, Bale is racing for the Bale with Johnson, Agger comes ACROSS DIRECTLY AT HIM with no intention whatsoever of playing the ball, knowing full-well that he's running across the man/the back of the man...he pulls out at the last second, not because he's a wonderful chap who was trying to play fair but because he knows it's job done. Bale has had to jink away with his right foot because he feels he's about to get tacoted given where Agger's come from and how little intent he has shown to play the ball, he's slightly off balance, he goes over. Arcspace, this doubles as my answer to your last post...

So Agger was running across the field to scare him away?

Guys, that is what defenders do - they generally try to stop the attacking players. Of course, Agger would have been running across trying to help Johnson.

Bale actually takes ANOTHER step with his left and then decides to fall

No, I simply don't want them to cheat, dive and attempt to gain unfair advantage from the game. Besides bringing the game into disrepute it also certainly isn't the Tottenham way. Don't give a fcuk if they go to church or Sunday or smoke zol.

the Tottenham way.hmmmmmm

i see now why so many object to the idea of Mourinho ever managing Spurs.

bring back Ossie!!

Look at the clip, steff - Bale goes to the ground having been caught which never actually happened?

Arc - we will clearly have to disagree with each other on this. Please dont label a player a cheat though for trying to protect himself. That is my final word on the subject

I think it comes down to the old principle of - you see what you want to see and vice versa. Fair enough we all percieve things our own way and this kind of topics always tend to divide fans so agreement would never be reached.

Simply want the thread preserved so if this happens against us the ones condoning his actions now should then bend over and take it if it comes our way too. Fair enough, ne ces't pas?

I'll tell you what makes me laugh the most, there's an entire thread on a 'dive' which I, and some others, don't think was a dive, Bale is getting blasted again, yet I saw no outpouring of 'disgraceful behaviour' comments over Benny's absolutely shocking challenge on that poor lad from Wigan Di Santo. That was awful, and him avoiding a ban for that was the first break we've had in months from the men in black. I love Benny and would never say he meant to 'do' another player, but THAT sort of challenge is bang out of order IMHO and one I was unhappy to see a Spurs player doing...

Can someone do a slow motion of that clip if possible?

no, you want a full speed, realtime clip to understand what THFCSteff and others are trying to say. slowing it down even more takes away the point that at the speed at which it all happened its understandable that Bale reacted that split second later like he did

Depends. If one is cheating to gain an unfair advantage then that cannot be condoned. In my view this just simply wasnt the case here.

Part of the reason for that is the fact Lescott and RVP were recently overlooked so at the very least number of fans felt - Benny's was no worse?

At least that is my explanation

...no. Try to watch a full clip of it at speed. Then try to imagine being Bale. it's helped if you see Skrtel taco him in the first half, and then again after this incident. Context...as for Mourinho/encouraging cheating, are you serious? He is the MASTER of gamesmanship and encouraging such stuff. Take Crouch's silly challenge on Marcello, which really wasn't the worst in the world, yet which saw Marcello triple rolling in the skies before he fell, whence he proceeded to roll a couple more times whilst 'wincing in pain' only to give a pumped arm 'fudge yeah' when Crouch got his marching papers. Now, if Bale did THAT, then I'd be with you...

So if it was Suarez doing that against Dawson for example you would have said he did it to protect his ankle and been ok with it?
