***TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Arsenal OMT***

Kept away today and won’t have time to rewatch.

Did anyone notice the tweaks to the tactics Ange hinted at? And we’re there any tactical shifts during the game?

Same starting set up as usual.

We played very, very deep and seemingly not as quickly but I guess that’s down to quality of the press, and we got caught deep in our own third a few times early on

Maddison was very lucky after being dispossessed in his own box not being aware he was being closed down - Jesus should have scored.

When we did manage to play through into midfield we looked very good in parts.

Funnily enough it was Maddison who went relatively long and over the top for Kulu to run on to that eventually led to our first goal. That passage got us up the pitch and we played from there.

The only real change in approach was when Richy and PEH came on for Maddison and Son. E we lost a bit of impetus, but Son has put ins shift and Maddison badly jarred his knee earlier.

So all in all, very encouraging bearing in mind how lucky their goals were, and I can only guess it was a bit of nervousness that played quite so deep and seemed to take more touches early on.

Ok. Fair result in the end. What did we learn? Think we need another option at cb, for maddison or son. We lost pace when son, johnson and maddison came off as well as creativity.

Romero unlucky with goal and handball (did the arsenal player handball beforehand)? But wanted him subbed cause i thought he might lose it mentally.

The passing around the back while being pressed was dangerous. Yet second half when we weren't vicario seemed to go long. Didn't understand that.

Anyway, bring on liverpool.
We learned that in 7 games Ange has us playing better football than arguably anyone
And Arsenal have been caught already

Their attempt to create Ultras was cringe but typical of Arsenal fans ... Adebayor would own the lot of them with one knee slide ... like a bunch of scrappy dos "Let me at 'em" ...

Wearing black JD sale items with balaclavas and face masks ... honestly ... they sat around and thought that it sounded like a respectable idea .... they have never had a firm and that mob would get had by anyone ...
Overheard a couple of schoolboys on the train the other day boasting about the 'Ashburton Army'.
Was tempted to ask if they are the idiots who all wear black t shirts behind the goal but held back so not to get involved in a petty argument.
Deary me, some of these fans nowadays

Vicario (26) Porro (24) Romero (25) MVDV (22) Udogie (20)

A case for that being the best backline in the league? Gotta be close to. That could be the best in Europe in a year or two if kept together and Porro continues to learn his trade

Don't. Said to my arsenal mate. Ange has had 3 months, arteta has had 5 years. He tried to argue it (hsd to point out he finished 5th, 8th, 8th, 5th, 2nd). Got the right hump. Then obviously tried to twist it to "but he won an fa cup".

They've got to sort out their passing under pressure though. That ball to maddidon was bad. But still early days and new to the league and pace for some.

He doesn't connect? Watch it again! Doesn't with the studs, but with the knee and the rest of his body. You can see Vicario's leg bend! Also, You don't have to connect. There doesn't need to be contact for it to be a free kick, and tackling with excessive/unnecessary force is at least a yellow, and this was reckless in addition. It's a stone wall red card.
I don’t make the rules mate. If a player gets fouled but stays on his feet and continues it’s not a foul. Same sort of thing.

It is a foul. Just play is allowed to go on. Or am i wrong?
Not in some cases, a player avoids a badly timed slide tackle and jumps over it but loses the ball due to avoiding it, should play carry on or should he have let the contact happen? 10/10 times the play carries on.

He did win an Fa cup
I’d take that
But now having spent £800m he need a title

When that kind of penalty is given on the edges of the box or with players in between I'm against it.

But. 5 yards out.. Without his arm that is probably going in. You have to give them even if his arm position is natural.. Was a pen all day for me.

There's at least one player behind romero blocking it, no way it's a goal.

He's not in control, it's high, straight leg, studs up, everything for a red is there, except a ref with a spine.

Feels like we left two points behind, played the occasion rather than the actual players, they really aren't that good, we played within ourselves.

Very frustrated by the goals we conceded, the shot for the first was going wide, couldn't believe the gall of Saka to celebrate the way he did after getting away with such a wild slice. The second is a criminal decision, you can't give handball when the ball is deflected by a tackle, not only that, before White (I think) turned to shoot, he used a hand to control the cross, why didn't VAR see that?

Lots of good across the team, Son took his goals brilliantly, hope Maddison is ok, it looked serious when he first went down.

Johnson was ok, but needs more composure when shooting, he was in twice but just smashed it straight at the keeper both times.

Nketiah should have been off, that was a shocking tackle.

Arteta is a whiny clam, I like to think he'll be crying into his Tempranillo tonight.

We'll finish at least 10 points ahead of them.

The fa cup was a strawman. I was just pointing out it's early days for anges spurs. As i've said before the match, today is a lesson for spurs.

He tried to argue arteta hadn't been at arsenal for 5 years.

I don't know the future. But today was a good result in more ways than one. Yes we can play big teams under ange. Yes we can get points.

Hopefully we grow from here.
