*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United ***

that line is a mess, follow the cut of the grass instead

I reckon he was actually on
Harsh! @elltrev has done alright for a quick effort. From that frame, which I'll assume to be at the exact moment the ball was struck (and really, don't get me started on the error bars that should be involved with that), it does seem that Rashford's onside -- certainly if you're giving the attacker the benefit of the doubt. Tight enough that I'd be happy to give it as "lino's call" if we actually had a sensible VAR system.

fudge me, offside really is a pain in the hole isn’t it? It obviously has to exist but we all know what should and shouldn’t be deemed offside within the spirit of the rule. And frequently stuff is being adjudged offside that “shouldn’t” be. But, ultimately, it is a black and white rule.

Id love to see many goals from the past that we never even questioned that would be deemed offside with todays technology.

Pretty sure ai could take over the job and have instant results. No questions. No waiting.

Could have markers printed on the pitch similar to the yardage ones in NFL, potential sponsor opportunity too.

Would help with offsides for VAR I think.

No it would not help VAR. VAR doesn't need lines on the pitch. It's already programmed into the system. The lines are like a movable wall, set parallel to the goal line.
