Harry Kane MBE

You do remember 2008 right? Keane and then Berbatov on the last day of the transfer window with no credible replacement.

No football fan remembers last season
There was a World Cup in the middle of it by the way
So how can they remember that far back

That’s outside though
We don’t want 90 mins of Toxicity in the stadium especially if we go 1-0 down
We won’t get that toxicity
Ange will tell the crowd what he needs
And if the crowd don’t respond then the term fans needs to be dropped quickly to followers…
It’s the rocking order
A fan supports the club regardless
A follower is someone who watches from
A distance

From what I hear the United game already is. I believe there is some 'Levy out' pre-match protest already planned

I’m sure some people will but you can’t beat Levy too much for this. 86m now or potentially nothing in 12 months. fudge me, even as someone who thinks he is too fiscally cautious, I can understand why he sold.

Some of the clowns criticising him no doubt brick themselves when they’re asked to make a work decision for minuscule fractions of those amounts.

The club have said they were signings in previous seasons
The fees may not have been accounted for in those seasons of course but they may have allocated funds for the relevant parts they had to pay back then
We will, IMO, spend the Kane money now

I think it is prudent to keep a kitty for Ange. We will have a settling-in period and find out what needs strengthening next. We'll add one more attacker and one more CB now. It is a lot of players to bed in as it is. Mind you if we add a CB and attacker, plus VDV and we've probably spent most of the Kane cash anyway.

What is our appx no-Kane transfer kitty? No europe it must drop 20-30m? Maybe 70m?

Very happy with those but I was referring to the post that Levy will spend a lot of the Kane cash
Hope he does but I honestly doubt it

When have we not spent profits on new players other than funding the stadium project? No money has gone anywhere else except the usual costs of running a football club.

Feel absolutely gutted, always hoped he might have a change of heart when it came down to it. What a special player he was for us, countless goals and memories. Pleased I got to take my daughter to her first game last week and she saw his final game and hat trick. Nice way to bow out but this is going to hurt.

Feel sorry for Ange, looked like a nice vibe was building up and he was saying all the right things. Hopefully it's not going to dampen the mood and affect our start to the season.
He made his decision 2 years ago. When he didn't get the City move he clearly decided to just wait it out and control his own destiny.

And like I said many, many times in this thread. Winning actual tangible titles mean more to him than an ephemeral goal scoring record.

I agree
But I think it’s relative
Each league is step up but the players you inherit are better too
So it comes down to the coach and approach
Already we’re seeing progress there
Ange is getting the team playing a way we haven’t seen before here. Poch never played this front foot regularly
It may hurt us too. We will know come jan 1st

and back on Kane
He is sublime. The ultimate player. But.. for him to shine previously we relied on him and he stepped up, and up, and up
It’s no coincidence we always looked more of a team when he was injured
Other players stepped up
The team pulled together
Relying on lane became a weakness and we even saw it with managers. The guy is that good
That's a good point about being ok (or even better) during his injury lay offs.

The only worry I have for Ange in this league is it's relentless and Uber competitive. Yes his players are better BUT so are the opposition and the managers smarter.
Eg. At Celtic you can iron out the wrinkles as you'll probably secure some results when you're still not functioning as the managers desires.

But I think it will be fun, an antidote to the last 4 seasons.
I bet we don't draw many games this season:D

Was thinking the same. He's been waiting for this moment for months, probably years, to have some "reason" to spew his negativity around, for something that was going to happen eventually, regardless of who owns us. We're getting over €100m for a player that has less than 1 year left. That's crazy! All teams sell players, many have sold their best player, and all of them are still here!

Yeah, I know 'still here' is the sum total of what a lot of folks want for us mate. That's fine - if you're happy with us merely existing, you're entitled to that opinion, and good luck to you.

To me, on days like today, it reminds me that this is all that we will ever do under this ownership model. The best player in our history leaves us to go win things, and is sold to a club that actually wins things - an indictment of the fact we can't do either.

Kane would still be here if we had an owner willing to make us win things - that "regardless of which owner owned us" bit you're hawking is utter tripe. You think if we had City's owners and were winning things, Kane would want to leave? If we had Stan Kroenke who's put 600m of his own money into his club? If we had FSG who put in some 400M of their own money and won the lot?

The day we lose a club legend because we simply cannot compete with those around us, and the biggest priority of some is rounding on 'negativity', as if happy clapping is what everyone should be doing about having an owner that has caused this. This is ENIC's fault, no others.

Kane would have stayed if we'd won things. Feel pretty confident in saying he would have retired here had we won things. Instead, it's come to this.

This is not on the owners. Spurs has reached finals. Also it is not Levy's fault that players couldn't beat sides that are weaker than them on paper. I wish Kane well but to blame Levy for this scenario is harsh and unrealistic. Spurs provided Kane with a solid environment to excel. We have won trophies without Kane and we will continue to win trophies and be strong without him.

As I've said mate, we were the weaker team in every one of those finals. This is why we consistently lose them - we have to hope for a long shot against the odds every time, and it rarely works out.

Even the one pot we won in 22 years of these deadweights came against the odds, vs Chelsea in 2008. Other than that we have been consistent in going out to teams better funded than us, with better players than us. And it shows - like with the FA Cup semifinal in 2017 when Chelsea threw Hazard, Costa and Fabregas off the bench to win the game while we brought on...N'Koudou.

This is why Kane is leaving - we could not build a team around him to win the things he wanted to win with us.

Totally. It is a positive. Who would begrudge Kane a fresh challenge and new perspective? Few. So it is a positive from his side, and most would agree he deserves it. He has the challenge of nailing it at a new club and culture. It transpires that stats are less important, and fresh experiences are richer.

On our side, we have a manager who loves a pressing forward. When Ange joined, he sat down with Levy, Paratici and Munn and a decision was made then. Whilst Postecoglou would obviously work with Kane if he stayed, we made the decision to cash in now, and bolster Ange's re-build fund, if Kane didn't sign an extension. In that sense, this is a bonus for us. Few expect Ange to win a trophy this season (with Kane) so why build a team around him only for him to leave in a year? Made no sense. Now we have a bit of a bump in what Spurs can do to reshape the squad.

Tbh we might credit Levy for keeping Kane around for as long as he did. He acted fast to secure him, and the poor chap was wedded to us for his best years. It would be lovely if he comes back and retires playing for Spurs again. Maybe scoring some goals in a stronger side that was bolstered by his sale funds.
