Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

As you said, a ‘backup CF’. As a club that isn’t free spending, we shouldn’t be spending as much as did on a backup.

We didn’t need Bissouma when we had four very capable midfielders for two places. We likely bought him thinking worst case scenario we can move him on for a profit as we bought him cheaper than his likely market value at the time BUT you don’t buy something just because it’s cheap if you don’t actually need it and you’re attempting to be financially prudent.

As for who those centre backs should have been. I don’t know. I’m not someone who has football contacts or is aware of who is available, or not, but I find it highly unlikely we couldn’t have improved our defence with that budget given I don’t rate Dier and Sanchez in particular as centre backs. Davies I’d keep as he’s good for left wing back as well as cover centre back.

What CF do you get, who is much better than Richarlison or even on the same level, for much cheaper? And Richarlison can cover two positions across the front which helps as a backup and as a guy who can push the 3 front players to be better. At least in theory.

Sarr and Skipp were unproven really and still are to a degree. PEH has an awful lot of detractors. I don’t for one second believe Bissouma was brought in just to make a quick profit either.

It’s all very well saying “these players must be out there” but every transfer is a risk. The fact that neither of us can name one of those CBS, let alone two, means whoever they bring in could be worse than Dier or Sanchez.

I don’t deny we need a CB by the way but we need the right one.

Possibly. But defeat next Saturday, and I think we might well near it announced on 5Live on the drive back up the M1 and M6, surely he couldnt survive out of both cups and 2 defeats on the bounce to relegation candidates
And with all due respect to him, this week offers him a chance to pearooster on this reputation of being a world class manager...stage is set, come back, beat Milan for a glorious night and passage to the next round and win a league game that sets up 4th fight nicely....that's what managers like him are paid for...so time to prove it

I guess we will see! On the upside we could very well win them both....just dont know what we will get from that team from game to game. Even when we do keep clean sheets I still want a new defence, because generally you know that is not the norm.

Why would they have to be as good as Richarlison? They would be signed as a backup.

I could name different centre backs but whether they were available, and if so what their price would be is a different matter.

Zero chance that Conte is sacked before May

Because we’ve gone the other road before and ended up with Llorente and Janssen and they have been nowhere near good enough.

They need to be at least as good as Richarlison to stop a huge drop off if Kane gets injured. The advantage with Richy is that he can play two positions and should, in theory, be getting plenty of game time so he doesn't need a few games to get up to speed if Kane gets injured.

I think it would be more 'Agreed to part terms by mutual consent on health consideration' or something like

Health consideration of the Spurs supporters that have had to deal with the stress of watching this bricky Spurs team?

But seriously, I do hope Conte recovers well and quickly. It has been a tough year for him. And I could understand if he would want to choose family time in future over staying our manager.

I hate this endgame phase. We all knew Mourinho was toast in January, but we lingered till April and missed out on Tuchel. It's just wasting everyone's time and money.

Well i guess there will be some who disagree but i still hope he will not. No one is more tinkled of then me about our performances in some games but we had 21 shots yesterday and the fact we did not score is NOT down to the manager as it is to poor finishing.

We have had a lot of IMPORTANT players missing a lot of games, Romero, Kulu, Bentacur. Son has in all honesty had a crap season and our Keeper has had probably his worst.

Of course we need a couple more players and i am disgusted the way we went out of the cup the other night and sick to death of excuses being given for our reasons for doing so. However if we keep sacking managers ( which seems to be the the cry from a lot of supporters in todays game) every time we lose a game we will never get anywhere.

As a fan who travels all over the country to watch us am i happy? fudge no i am not but keep sacking managers, changing set ups, players, is never going to work out as we have seen since the Poch sacking. Now we are screaming for him to come back ( i will add here i thought sacking him whem we did was a mistake and i said that on here) but i do not want us to rehire him.

Our signings over the last couple of windows have imo improved us as a team, although a few still need time to settle/adjust to us the players have looked good in some games. As for some of those players being bad signings according to some fans well that is nothing new and it happens at most teams. ALL signings are a risk and you can look at any clubs and see the ones who have not turned out well.

Which is? Might be that we are all stuck in some weird votex in which Spurs will never

I wish i knew. I'm sure better minds than mine hsve pondered it.
